Donnachie and Townley Veterinary Centre is a group of two small animal practices, which have serviced the veterinary needs of companion animals in Rugeley and the surrounding area for over three decades.

Both of our premises are accredited by the RCVS Practice Standards Scheme in both Core Standards and Tier 2 Small Animal General Practice. We also have achieved silver status in the Cat-Friendly scheme in both of our practices, something our associates are very proud of. Our two practices are light and spacious and have recently been renovated. Our Rugeley site has 2 theatres, which are glass linked. We also have a digital x-ray, in-house blood machines, ultrasound, dental radiography, and all the dental equipment needed.

Your role and responsibilities

Your day-to-day role at D&T Vets would include 1 day of surgery, 1 day of consultations and 2 days of a mixture of both. If you do have a surgical bias, or prefer consultations, we would be open to tailoring the frequency of surgery with your role, to match your preference.

The ideal candidate for this role would be a surgeon who feels comfortable with all primary care duties. We may be able to support a surgeon with more advanced procedures if you feel comfortable with all routine primary care duties. Investing in our associates and professional development is important to us and is actively encouraged.

About us

Both our sites are based in lovely market towns just a 50-minute drive from the city of Birmingham with easy access to the city or the more peaceful countryside surroundings and West Midlands airport is also just a 60-minute drive away.

As a practice, we are really proud of our closely-knit, and supportive team. We are all motivated individuals who are passionate about high standards and the pets in our care. We are a sociable bunch who enjoy our working days together.

We are an experienced 6 Veterinary Surgeon team supported by a dedicated nurse and front of house team. One of our Vets are working towards a certificate in and dermatology. D and T Vets are associated with Shires Vets which means we can offer a fantastic range of facilities and services across our group. Although there will not be the need to work at the Shires site, we are able to have regular vet meetings between both sites, we share CPD events and if a surgeon is looking for a specific caseload, we should be able to support this between the two groups.

We are a local practice and are passionate about building a great rapport with our clients and being part of the local community. Some of our clients have been visiting us for many years and we treat every pet that visits us as if they were our own. Case continuity is important to us, where possible.

We predominantly care for small animals, but we often offer first aid to wildlife, we work with local aquatic and reptile shops and so have been known to care for the odd owl, hedgehog, snakes and even a baby dragon.

Last year, D&T Vets earned a prestigious silver award from Investors in the Environment (iiE) in recognition of its eco-friendly practices and sustainability programme.
