Desirable

About us

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a veterinary surgeon to join our fun and friendly team at Derby Kingsway! This successful small animal practice is close to the A38 with good transport links to Nottingham, Burton and the Peak District.

Our modern surgery has been designed to industry leading standards, with state-of-the-art equipment and in-house laboratory facilities. We are a silver standard ICC Cat Friendly Clinic and are also rabbit friendly.

Our Partner, Emma Gilbert, is an experienced Bristol graduate and leads a supportive team of 3 other vets, 5 nurses, 3 client care advisors and a practice administrator.

About you

The ideal candidate to join our professional team will have good general small animal surgical and medical skills as well as a good knowledge of working up cases. You will be part of a team dedicated to providing superb standards of client and animal care.

This is a part time role working 15-30 hours per week including a shared weekend rota of 1 in 3 Saturdays, some sole charge but no OOH. Flexibility with full or part days to work but ideally to include a Friday.

Baldivis Vet Hospital is seeking an experienced veterinarian with a strong interest and proven competency in small animal ultrasonography to establish and lead our growing in-house ultrasound service.

This is a unique opportunity to focus on diagnostic imaging while continuing to work within a collaborative team of experienced veterinarians, emergency clinicians, surgeons and nurses. You will play a key role in providing advanced diagnostic support for both hospitalised and referred patients.

The Opportunity

Work 5 days per week.
Flexible daily schedule of 5–7.5 hours per day.
Perform approximately 20 ultrasound examinations per week, including:
- Around 15 in-hospital ultrasound examinations.
- Approximately 5 referred outpatient ultrasound cases from surrounding veterinary practices.
Work in a purpose-built hospital with modern ultrasound equipment and an experienced support team.
Collaborate closely with our surgery, emergency and medicine departments.

What’s on Offer

In addition to a competitive annual salary of $120,000–$130,000 (depending on experience), we offer an attractive ultrasound incentive program designed to reward productivity and expertise.

Base salary: $120,000–$130,000 per annum.
Ultrasound incentive: Earn an additional $100 including super for every ultrasound examination performed.
Outstanding earning potential: Based on approximately 20 ultrasound cases per week, you could earn up to an additional $2,000 per week through the incentive program.

We are looking for a veterinarian who:

Has a strong interest in diagnostic imaging and abdominal ultrasonography.
Is confident performing and interpreting small animal ultrasound examinations independently.
Enjoys working collaboratively with veterinarians across surgery, emergency and general practice.
Has excellent communication and client relationship skills.
Is committed to delivering outstanding patient care and mentoring colleagues.
