Normal working week is 8am - 5pm Monday - Friday. No Saturday morning surgeries. If it's your weekend off, you finish on Friday at 5pm.

Salary: it really does depend on experience. Ballpark £28,000 - 60,000 including benefits and we check with the SPVS survey to try and make sure we are being fair. We do at least pay you extra when you get called out if you are on duty at night/weekends.

Apparently using the word "cake" is a turnoff for prospective applicants, but in our experience, most vets live off a very mixed diet of sandwiches, excessive amounts of tea/coffee and the occasional biscuit or baked good: so we make sure that you can grab a hot drink and satisfy your sugar cravings.

28 days holiday, private health insurance, pension, and an epic Christmas party (been told that we come across as "too social"). Competitive salary, OOH bonuses, and local accommodation (rural but 40 mins from city centre) available.

Fully kitted out vehicles, scanners, bull and ram fertility testing kits, foot-trimming crushes, regular farmer meetings, handling systems (warning: overused pun = all the toys).

***WE HAVE FETOTOMES IN THE PRACTICE*** apparently this is a good guide to how well equipped we are...

RCVS accredited (we are really proud that we are accredited and have worked blooming hard to make sure that we run the practice to the best of our ability and provide an excellent service to our clients. Looking after our vets is equally important). We've also got three Practice Standards Awards at Outstanding (and we're the only practice in the country to have done so).

Dogs welcome although we have our own emotional support dogs on site (2 golden retrievers, an Aussie and a labradork)

Lots of regular in-house practical CPD: we believe in training all our vets to do as much as possible. We will consider all reasonable requests for CPD but please don't ask to attend that small animal dentistry course - its not relevant to farm vet practice.

Why have previous vets left? The last two: to move closer to their partners, or at least that's what they said in their exit interviews.

What do our vets say about the practice? "plenty of support for new grads" "doing more farm surgery than other people who graduated at the same time as me" "trustworthy" "didn't think I'd be allowed to do this much fertility work" "think I've achieved a lot more than I would in other practices"

Yes we have advertised previously in the last few years, that's because we are a fast-growing practice and need more vets to meet the amount of farm work we have. And yes, we are 100% independent, not corporate, no links to vet groups, just us forging our own path ahead in the world of farm animal vets.

If you want to know more about what we do, check out our Instagram, Twitter and Facebook pages @MeadowsFarmVets

Please email your CV and covering letter to Richard or Sophie at Sophie@meadowsfarmvets.co.uk
sophie@meadowsfarmvets.co.uk (Sophie Aylett)23148480-2578-4f96-9a2a-1f5fe306d041Thu, 21 May 2020 17:01:50 GMTSmall Animal Vethttps://www.vetsurgeon.org/veterinary-jobs/permanent-small-animal-vet-hertfordshire-4110
100% small animal prictise in rural North Herts requires a veterinary surgeon with a good sense of humour to assist with all aspects of general verterinary practise.
