The Role

We are looking for an experienced small animal vet to join our team, we have We have full diagnostic capabilities such as ultrasound, digital radiography, endoscopy, laparoscopic equipment as well as a recently installed CT scanner, this complements a team which included certificate holders in orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, medicine, imaging and cardiology ensuring that we have a dynamic group which can support and help develop colleagues at all stages in their careers. We provide a supportive, caring and friendly network with regular social nights from ‘boozy lunches’ to ‘murder mystery nights!’

We have a small animal position available for a vet ideally with some experience.

We are also looking for a large animal/mixed vet to join us early next year.

The Role:

This is a full-time, permanent role, for an RCVS registered vet, based at our main Sheriff Hutton practice just north of the beautiful city of York.

Working hours are 08.30 – 17.00 Monday to Friday with 1:4 weekends on call after training.

Duties include:

Diagnostics via postmortems, farm visits and laboratory work
Routine visits for veterinary health and welfare plans, schemes such as Lion Code and Red Tractor
Surveillance visits for disease outbreaks such as Avian Influenza
Occasional export certification
Data analysis and epidemiology
Developing relationships with clients and applying innovative approaches to optimise health and welfare

Training and Development:

We are a large, friendly and supportive team. Our experienced vets have a range of post-graduate qualifications and areas of expertise, and you will be allocated a mentor who is VetGDP registered.

Your career development and growth are important to us and CPD is actively encouraged, with at least one international CPD per year. At Poultry Health Services we support applicants that wish to undertake further qualifications.

A little about our team:

At our Sheriff Hutton practice our fabulous team comprises of 9 Vets and 3 Administrators. We work collaboratively and get together for monthly clinical clubs. We’re also a sociable bunch and even participate in an annual 26-mile charitable walk - it’s not mandatory so feel free to bring the refreshments!

The Area:

We are situated in a beautiful rural area approximately 7 miles north of the historic city of York that provides a multitude of things to see and do. There are the many famous tourist attractions, plenty of restaurants, bars and shops and a good night life. Plus, York boasts ample facilities for sporting enthusiasts, a university and a horse racing course.

The beautiful North Yorks Moors are a stone’s throw away, and the East Coast is easily accessible. Travel links are good with nearby access to the A64 and A1(M). York is also well connected by train with regular services from major cities across the UK – London can be reached in under 2 hours.

What would my work pattern look like?

Full-time (average 40 hours per week, but see below re part time opportunities)
4 weekdays per week (one with a 4pm finish) and 1 in 4 Saturdays
No OOH’s, no Sundays, no on call, no sole charge and no Bank Holidays. Wahoooooo!

Ultrasound Veterinarian

Baldivis Vet Hospital is seeking an experienced Ultrasound Veterinarian to join our progressive and supportive team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a modern, well-equipped hospital with a strong focus on excellence in patient care, diagnostics, and teamwork.

About the Role:

We are looking for a veterinarian with a postgraduate qualification in diagnostic imaging or ultrasound to provide high-quality ultrasound services to our patients. The role involves performing abdominal and thoracic ultrasounds, echocardiography (if applicable), and assisting with advanced case workups in collaboration with our experienced veterinary team.

Ideally, we are seeking someone to cover Monday to Thursday and one weekend day, with approximately 4 hours per shift. Although these shifts are shorter than a standard workday, the relatively higher salary will ensure that the total remuneration is equivalent to a full-time salary of $120,000 per annum.
