The Role

We are looking for an experienced small animal vet to join our team, we have We have full diagnostic capabilities such as ultrasound, digital radiography, endoscopy, laparoscopic equipment as well as a recently installed CT scanner. This complements a team which included certificate holders in orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, medicine, imaging and cardiology ensuring that we have a dynamic group which can support and help develop colleagues at all stages in their careers. We provide a supportive, caring and friendly network with regular social nights from ‘boozy lunches’ to ‘murder mystery nights!’

We have a small animal position available for a vet with at least 1 years experience.

We are also looking for a large animal/mixed vet to join us. MRCVS only please.

About the Role

As a Lead Surgical Veterinarian, you will play a key leadership role within our surgical department, managing a diverse surgical caseload while mentoring veterinarians and nurses.

Key Responsibilities

Perform a wide range of general surgical procedures.
Examine, diagnose and treat small animal medical and surgical patients.
Administer and prescribe medications, analgesics and anaesthetics.
Interpret pathology, radiography, ultrasound and other diagnostic imaging.
Manage complex surgical and hospital cases.
Provide clear treatment plans and communicate effectively with clients.
Maintain accurate and detailed clinical records.
Mentor veterinarians and veterinary nurses in surgical techniques and best practice.
Participate in the ongoing growth and development of the surgical department.

About You

You will have:

Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent).
Eligibility for registration as a Veterinary Surgeon in Western Australia.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in small animal medicine and surgery.
Strong soft tissue surgical skills.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
A genuine commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.

Desirable

Postgraduate qualification in surgery, diagnostic imaging or ultrasound (MANZCVS, GradCert or equivalent)

The Opportunity

We wish to recruit a permanent full-time Vet with at least three years’ experience. We are looking for an all-round confident GP who may have a special interest they wish to develop, or has started or completed a Post-graduate Certificate.

You’ll be responsible for providing high-quality medical and surgical care while working closely with our experienced nursing and support teams to deliver excellent outcomes for our patients and clients.

The role includes:

Consulting and managing a varied small animal caseload

Performing routine and non-routine surgical procedures

Participating in our out-of-hours rota as this is one of our key commitments to our clients and their pets

Medical case management, diagnostics and care plan implementation, including inpatient care workload

Working collaboratively with the wider clinical team to deliver high standards of patient care

Communicating clearly and compassionately with clients to support informed decision-making

Contributing to the continued development of clinical standards, practice services and quality improvement projects

Our full-time vets work 39 hours per week split over 4 days plus 1:12 Saturday mornings, plus a fair share of the out of hours rota. We are committed to providing our own out of hours services for our clients and their pets; we use our own team, in our own premises, and with access to the pet’s records. This is not only a huge benefit for our clients and their pets, but we believe it also benefits our team’s experience and development. If you don’t want to undertake out of hours work this isn’t the role for you.

Generally, over the course of a day, you will see a mix of consults ranging from the routine healthcare to emergencies. You will have time to do procedures, dentals, medical case work ups, follow ups and have a break for your lunch. Our clients are really engaged and come to us knowing they will receive excellent pet care, a welcoming smile, transparent pricing, and a professional service throughout.

The finer details...

Our working day is 8.30-6pm, and the successful candidate will be expected to take an equal share of the on-call rota for weeknights and weekends (currently 1 in 6, working the Saturday until 4pm and having the following Monday off in lieu). We have night nurses on site at Nurture Wells 24/7 for inpatient care, and there is a private, recently refurbished flat on site for vets to use if needed. The role will also involve some day shifts at our 'satellite' practice in Weston-super-Mare (which we run as a stand-alone clinic with it's own theatre, lab, imaging, dental suite and laparoscopic equipment, we just don't hospitalise pets there for overnight or ongoing care).

Salary from £40,000 - £60,000 DoE, benefits include 5 weeks holiday (plus your birthday day as an additional day off), sick pay, discounted pet-care, and lots of cake, biscuits and out-of-work social events!

Jurassic Vets is an independent, family-owned small animal practice with branches in Sidmouth, Colyton and, from 2027, Honiton. We are looking for an experienced veterinary surgeon to join our 8-vet team in a role that can be shaped around the right person.

Our biggest strength is the combination of clinical freedom, strong team support and genuine flexibility. We want our vets to have the time, equipment and backing to work cases up properly, while retaining the independence to practise in the way they feel is best for their patients.

Our team includes Jo Dyer, CertAVP in Internal Medicine, and Tom Cave, a medicine diploma holder and European Specialist, alongside experienced vets and nurses with a broad range of interests. Cases are discussed openly and colleagues support one another, while confident vets are also trusted to manage their own caseloads. The practice owner Peter Martin works alongside his colleagues as a frontline vet and lead surgeon.

All three branches are full-service practices, with surgical, dental, imaging and inpatient facilities. Equipment includes digital and dental radiography, ultrasound, in-house laboratory facilities, ECG, capnography and modern anaesthetic monitoring, with laparoscopy available at Colyton. We also undertake a range of advanced medical, orthopaedic and soft-tissue cases in-house.

The role is deliberately flexible. You can be based mainly at one branch or work across more than one, depending on your preference and the needs of the practice. We are equally happy to shape the clinical mix around your interests, whether that is medicine, surgery, imaging or general practice.

We offer 20-minute consultations, no out-of-hours, a 1-in-4 Saturday morning rota, and flexible days and hours.

We are looking for a high-calibre vet with established small animal experience, good clinical judgement and high interpersonal standards, who would like to become a long-term part of an ambitious, close-knit independent practice - with, if you want it, the scope to become a lead vet at a branch.

We’re looking for a friendly, team focused Small Animal Vet to join our independent practice in Devon, based in Crediton & Okehampton.

We’re happy to consider both full-time and part-time applicants.

Ideally, you’ll have a few years of experience under your belt and be looking for a role where you can enjoy the clinical freedom, variety and support that comes with working in a genuinely independent practice.

This is a purely Small Animal role, within a supportive and experienced team where we place a real emphasis on working together, enjoying what we do and providing a high standard of care to our patients and clients.
