We believe the only gold standard that exists is whatever is the best solution for the individual pet and client and budget in front of us at that point in time, and that there are always options. As a consequence, our client base is lovely and incredibly loyal, and we’ve built a lot of trust and an excellent reputation in the community. Complaints of any description are rare.

We believe in veterinary practices as part of a community. We raise funds for the local food bank, use local services whenever possible, recycle medical waste, compost, tend flowers for the bees, grow salads for our exotics by the front door, run a Little Free Library project. There is so much more to nurturing the human-animal bond and building trusting client relationships than simply treating the disease in front of us!

We believe in education and continuous learning. Our vets between them hold certificates in Exotics, Internal Medicine, and Anaesthesia; and also hold post-grad qualifications in Pain Management and Canine Rehabilitation. Our nurses have additional qualifications in exotics and feline behaviour, and our practice manager is also a clinical animal behaviourist. We also work with a brilliant visiting orthopaedic surgeon whose TPLO outcomes I would happily bet on against any specialist in the country. We are all keen on learning and individual progression, and CPD is unlimited (within reason, if you wanted to do 3 certs simultaneously we’d need to compromise a bit!). We aim to empower our people to be the best they want to be.

And we also empower our clients to be the best they want to be. We explain what’s going on, what we’re doing and why we’re doing it. We educate and demonstrate, answer all the questions, communicate in a way that helps every client understand what’s going on and their own part in it. We offer a variety of classes for our clients, including first aid, puppy and teenage dog classes, co-operative care, therapeutic exercise classes, and recently held a super fun class on core strengthening for Dachshunds!

Our team comprises of 5 RVNs, 1 student RVN, 1 clinical behaviourist/practice manager, and 5 lovely Client Care peeps to round us off and keep us out of trouble. Our nurses do everything they can - tons of nurse consults (it’s harder to book a nurse consult than a vet consult some weeks!) and Schedule 3 procedures.

Who are we looking for?
- you can confidently manage most routine cases and surgeries, which likely means at least 3y qualified
- we have enough breadth within the team to be able to accommodate people with niche skills, but our ideal person would be a true solid general practitioner
- an exceptionally good fit would be a vet with a skill set similar to mine - broad base but with ability to handle complex medicine cases, ultrasound, pain management, acupuncture
- a person who appreciates individualised approach to care
- a person who enjoys case continuity, while understanding the value of case discussions and using the skills and experience of the whole team for better outcomes
- a person who shares our values properly, not just on paper: teamwork, respect, education, and contextualise care

What’s the job like?

Case load is diverse - regular stuff of all sorts, plus some more niche things like stem cell therapy and PRP, rehab, and exotics (not unusual to find eagles and monitor lizards around here!). About 1/3 of our caseload are exotics, but experience/involvement is not necessary.

We’re well equipped to help you do your work well, and always open to investing in equipment that will improve our patient care (and make the job more fun!). A cone beam CT scanner and a focused shockwave have joined the arsenal this year!

Days and hours are very flexible, anything from 20-40h per week (40h including paid lunch hours would be considered FT, we do need at least a 20h commitment). It can be any schedule except term time only - long days, short days, school hours only, evenings only (ha! we wish), consults only. Saturday mornings are evenly shared, 1 in 4, and are paid in addition to base salary. We’re quite flexible between the 4 of us, so can accommodate most shift patterns. There is no sole charge (apart from Saturday mornings) and no OOH. Admin time and breaks are blocked into the diary.

We do need someone with at least 3 years of clinical experience, at this stage we cannot accommodate a new or recent graduate.

Salary range would be £45-60k pa depending on skills and experience (we may be able to stretch to £65k for an exceptional candidate), pro rata based on 40h FT week equivalent, and paid overtime should it happen (not often). Annual leave is 5 weeks (200h) + bank holidays (80h) both pro rata. CPD leave is an additional 5 days (40h) pro rata. Paid RCVS, VDS and 1 other membership of your choice. Everything else is pretty standard.

There’s lots to do in the area - we have the beach, two rivers and the New Forest all on our doorstep, a historic market town, and food, arts and music festivals in the summer!

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality medical and surgical care to our loyal clients, ensuring their pets health and wellbeing. We are based in a village so semi-rural location but within easy reach of local Towns, Tamworth, Sutton Coldfield, Coleshill, Lichfield. The clinic is purpose built with 2 large consult rooms and a nurses consult station, open plan prep with separate operating theatre. Upstairs we have our on site Laboratory and luxury cat ward. We work up the majority of our cases in house, and will offer hospitalization here on site. We have a network of Independent Specialists that we choose to Refer to when necessary. We know our patients by name and the workload is optimal to give your cases time. We do not do OOH calls but we will care for our own in patients as the owner (Senior Vet) lives on site. Digital radiography, ultra-sound, all the usual equipment.

There must be a competent Vet that wishes they could be part of an established clinic that has ample room to expand and grow. Working with a mature and settled Team where your skills will be appreciated. Salary depending on the number of days worked and experience. Ideally a colleague who can do 3 days /week 8.30-7pm and share Saturdays 9-1pm or 1 Full day minimum required but open to discuss flexible patterns for the right candidate full time.

As part of our continued growth, including the launch of our brand-new Emergency & Critical Care (ECC) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) facility in September/October 2026, we are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic veterinary surgeons to join our team.

Our centre provides referral services across a wide range of disciplines, including soft tissue surgery, orthopaedics, internal medicine, neurology, ophthalmology, cardiology, and oncology. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in both supporting our existing referral services and contributing to our expanding ECC and ICU provision.

The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, where no two days are the same. You will be instrumental in managing emergency and critical care patients while supporting clinicians across all departments within the hospital.

Our state-of-the-art facilities include MRI, CT, ultrasound, endoscopy, arthroscopy, laparoscopy, fluoroscopy (dedicated theatre), separate medical and surgical wards, an in-house laboratory, operating microscope, advanced anaesthesia equipment, ventilators, and a comprehensive range of diagnostic and surgical tools. Our new ICU/high-dependency unit will further enhance our ability to deliver outstanding care to complex and critical patients.

You will become an integral part of our growing team as we continue to strengthen our reputation as a leading referral centre, delivering excellence for our patients, clients, and colleagues.

This position has three core aspects:

1. Clinical Duties (Primary Focus):
You will be heavily involved in the management of emergency and critical care cases, including triage, stabilisation, and ongoing ICU patient management. In addition, you will support all referral disciplines across the hospital. Responsibilities will include advanced diagnostics (including CT imaging), anaesthetic management, assisting with surgical procedures, and overseeing inpatient care plans. This is a varied and hands-on role that is essential to the smooth and efficient running of the hospital.

2. Professional Development & Knowledge Building:
You will actively participate in structured learning opportunities, including journal clubs and case discussions. We are committed to fostering continuous professional development and encouraging clinical progression within ECC and referral medicine.

3. Contribution to Out-of-Hours Care:
You will contribute to the out-of-hours rota, supporting the care of hospitalised referral patients alongside our experienced nursing team. This includes managing a diverse caseload across multiple disciplines. Senior clinical support will always be available, but confidence in managing routine inpatient care and decision-making is essential. You will work alongside the night ECC team to provide Out of Hours care to our member practices. This means excellent clinical care but also ensuring detailed and timely updates for primary care practices. You should be comfortable providing emergency care for common medical and surgical presentations.

Applicant Requirements:

MRCVS qualified and eligible to work in the UK
Minimum of two years’ experience in primary care practice
Previous experience in Emergency & Critical Care and/or ICU is highly desirable
Experience with out-of-hours work is advantageous
Strong clinical skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure

Good organisational ability and competent IT skills

About the hospital

The range of work our teams carry out goes above and beyond what is offered in first opinion private practice, and we offer a high-quality working environment with facilities including digital X-Ray, ultrasound and endoscopy in our purpose-built hospital. The shift pattern is mostly Monday-Friday 9am-5pm, allowing for an excellent work-life pattern as we have a dedicated team of night vets. You will be a part of the evening and weekend rota, resulting in about 1 evening shift a week (emergency calls only).

We opened our purpose-built independent clinic in late 2024 and since then we've been happily serving our local community. We pride ourselves on building trust with pet owners, and we're looking for an experienced vet who handles both clients and their animals with patience and diplomacy.

The clinic is modern, bright, spacious and staffed by a friendly team who look out for each other. Our team of RVNs take an active role in consulting, triage, lab work and imaging, providing excellent clinical and moral support, and reception makes sure nobody ends up under a bus. Our clientele tend to be friendly, pragmatic and considerate. We provide our own out-of-hours cover, which clients highly value and appreciate, but as a small practice it isn't onerous.

You'll be joining an existing full-time vet and a second part-time vet, and will be encouraged to develop your own client list. There are plenty of opportunities to work up cases and to get stuck in to surgery. We are well-equipped with a Zoetis in-house lab, DR radiography, DR dental radiography and a plush ultrasound scanner suitable for cardiac imaging. We want to build a stable, satisfied team, so if you have a relevant clinical interest we would endeavour to support it.
