Friendly independent practice with great team, flexible hours

Job Description

Design your perfect hours! Small animal veterinary surgeon needed by 3.5 vet independent small animal practice in Weston-Super-Mare. The practice is a 5min walk from the beach and a short drive to the Mendip Hills and Bristol. We greatly appreciate the need for a work-life balance to enjoy these things. Full time is a 4 day working week with 2 x 8.30am-5.30pm days and 2 x 8.30-7pm days, and 1 in 3 Saturday mornings. However, I am also open to all ideas so create your perfect job! Would you rather just work mornings? Or afternoons? Or school hours? A 3 day week? Open to all ideas as I really believe that we need to be open to new ideas/work structures to best match the job with our own lives. The last appointment is at 6.10pm so we normally finish on time and there is built in admin time during the day. The day is structured so we can help each other out even on busy days to get a good lunch break. Team work is extremely important and we have excellent RVNs who are fully utilised to help. We pride ourselves on treating  every animal as if it was our own and our high clinical standards. Being a small independent practice we love staying up to date and progressing and ideas from all our team members are greatly valued so there is always an opportunity to make a real difference. Usual kit including multiparameter monitor, dental x-rays, colour doppler ultrasound. We enjoy case discussions and helping each other. We also love making a difference and seeing cases for Streetvet and other charities. There are no targets and no hard sell, and we can tailor treatment plans to the client and patients’ needs be that “gold standard” or doing the best we possibly can within a budget.

Own dogs welcome and cost price + VAT drugs/treatment/food. RCVS/VDS fees paid, 5 days paid CPD per year (no set budget), 5 weeks holiday + bank holidays. On call is optional but we do participate in a local OOH sharing scheme and the OOH rota is 1 in 4 Thursday nights, 1 in 6 Friday nights (always with the day off afterwards and also an additional half day off in lieu of weeknights on call) and 2 Saturdays (1pm-8.30am Sun) and 2 Sundays (8.30am-7pm) per year. There is a dedicated night nurse on site to look after patients and assist whenever needed who also often takes the phones. Full back up if needed. Accommodation overnight available if required. This gives a nice balance of still seeing some of those interesting OOH cases but not having to work the next day and not too frequently and allows our patients to be seen locally. Part time also possible, please contact me to discuss options- open to ideas. Salary £30k-45k depending on experience.
