Work where others go on holidays!
"I chose to work at All Pets Vet Care mainly because of its welcoming, supportive team and because of the impressive, full of potential facilities and equipment that they have.
Unlike many colleagues of mine, I was lucky to find this practice, where I received the support that we all need, but unfortunately don't always get at the start. I always felt like I had someone I could ask for any kind of help.
On top of that, all of my interests were encouraged and thanks to a very generous CPD allowance I go the chance to progress much faster than I expected, finding a lot of satisfaction in what has been my job now for three years.
Working hours also allow me to have a perfect work-life balance, giving me the opportunity to carry on my passion for surfing and water sports in this beautiful part of the country."
This is what our veterinary surgeon Stefano, who started with us in July 2016 as a new graduate has to say about his job with us.
We have just celebrated our 10th birthday and as Lina is going to leave us at the end of the year to join her husband at another practice, we are now looking for a 4th veterinary surgeon. We would equally consider a new graduate or a more experienced vet, who enjoys to continually learn and improve.
To help with this aim, we offer an yearly CPD allowance of £2000. Our innovative and pioneering practice is always updating, implementing new techniques and buying new equipment and developing plans to move forward.
We were the first in the area to have or offer:
- a digital dental x-ray system (a Nomad & CR7 combo)
- a therapeutic K-Laser
- laparoscopic bitch spays.
We have a Mindray ultrasound machine with colour doppler, linear, vector and cardiac probes besides our Agfa CR x-ray system with buckey table and iM3 dental machine.
We are proud to provide our own OOH for our clients - the animal that you have cared for during the day is not suddenly seen by somebody who doesn't know anything about their treatment. There is always a nurse on call out of hours to deal with in-patients and assist you when needed.
We offer a structured induction, so that you have time to adapt to your new job.
New grad? After a period of no on-calls, you will always have another vet as a back-up when you start on the rota for a few more months, until you and we feel comfortable that you can tackle it on your own!
We are an independent practice - we can make our own decisions and we don't have "assistants" - just capable vets, who are encouraged to build their own client base. We don't like assembly line work, but allow pets time to settle, so that they and their owners are not stressed by the visit.
We run in-house clinical and client care training delivered by external trainers (we also have our own CPD site: www.coastandcpd-uk.com through which we run occasional courses), but besides attendance at UK conferences and courses, our vets have also been to CPD in Sweden, the US and Hong Kong.
We are a small to medium sized, Investors in Peoples accredited SA practice (we achieved Gold status in 2013) in a beautiful, light flooded, grade II listed building, which won a BVHA Design Award in 2011.
We are based on Milford Marina and our practice overlooks the harbour, with shops and restaurants only a short stroll away.
Our team currently comprises 4 vets, 4 RVN's, 4 SVN's, 1 ANA and 4 reception / admin / HR staff. We have a lovely and loyal client base and our patients don't dread coming through the door either.
One of our vets holds a GPCertSAM and another one is currently looking into doing a surgery certificate. Our nurse all have their own areas of interest and hold their own clinics.
The practice is situated in Pembrokeshire, which offers a variety of award winning beaches (most of them dog-friendly) and watersport activities. You can take your dog on the 200 miles of coast path in the National Park of visit the Preseli mountains, where the stones for Stonehenge came from!
Or do you fancy bird, seal or dolphin watching - have a look at www.visitpembrokeshire.com for what Pembrokeshire has to offer.
Our ideal candidate is a strong team player, who wants to develop his / her own interest in a surgical or medical area, who loves to interact with our clients and who fits in with our company values of Growth, Pride, Respect, Courage, Openness and Loyalty. Do you love to get your teeth into those clinical challenges and find the solution? Or do you love to tackle the little bit trickier ops?
We offer a 4 day week with 1 weekend in 4 on call.
Our work times are Mo-Fri 8.30am – 6.30pm and Sat from 8.30 pm- 2pm (with on-call for the rest of the weekend)
The holiday allowance is 31 days including bank holidays and our CPD allowance, as mentioned above, is £2000.
Membership to RCVS, VDS and another professional body of your choice is paid by the practice.
To support your physical and mental health all our team members have Benenden Healthcare and Peninsula's Health Assist membership.
Salary will be depending on experience, starting at £29K for a new graduate.
