Sole-charge vet role at independent practice with strong support

Job Description

Gayton Veterinary Group

Gayton Veterinary Group is seeking an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to take on a Lead Vet role at our Horley branch. This is an excellent opportunity for a vet with 4–5+ years of UK clinical experience who enjoys autonomy, continuity of care, and shaping the clinical standards of a well-established independent first-opinion practice.

About the Role

This is a sole-charge position supported by an experienced RVN and a dedicated client care team. You will work closely with the wider team at our Redhill branch and have genuine influence over clinical protocols, workflow, case management and branch development.

Why Join Us?

Gayton Veterinary Group is a long-standing independent small animal practice with a strong focus on:

  • High-quality first-opinion veterinary care
  • Excellent client communication
  • In-house case progression
  • Clinical freedom and supportive leadership

Our Horley branch includes:

  • Ultrasound
  • Digital X-ray
  • Fully equipped theatre
  • In-house laboratory analysers

We also work with visiting and peripatetic specialists and are happy to invest further in equipment where it improves patient care or supports clinical interests.

Role Details

  • 4-day week (3 days considered)
  • 1 in 4 Saturdays (9am–1pm)
  • No OOH
  • Salary dependent on experience
  • 5 weeks holiday + bank holidays (+1 week for long service)
  • Generous CPD allowance, with support for developing clinical interests
  • Paid professional fees
  • Employee pet care scheme

About You

We are looking for a vet who:

  • Is confident working independently but enjoys being part of a wider team
  • Values continuity of care and strong client relationships
  • Communicates clearly and confidently
  • Enjoys following cases through and progressing clinical skills
  • Is proactive, organised and keen to help shape an evolving branch

If you are looking for a supportive, forward-thinking independent practice where you can genuinely influence how a branch develops, we would love to hear from you. Please send in your CV to pheathcote@gayton.co.uk
