We are looking for an additional Vet to join our expanding team.

Job Description

**No OOHs!!**

Due to the continuing growth of our Veterinary Clinic, we are looking for an additional Veterinary Surgeon to join our expanding team.

What is the practice like?

Mid Sussex Veterinary is a small animal RCVS accredited practice, we are very fortunate to be based in the lovely village of Wivelsfield, very close to Haywards Heath which has great transport links and local amenities. We are only a 15-minute drive from the beautiful South Downs and a 25-minute drive to Brighton. We have a friendly loyal client base, many of which have been bringing their pets to us since we first opened!

We maintain a relaxed, very friendly, and supportive environment. We value our team, which includes Marie Clinical Director, a Head Nurse, 5 Vets, 5 RVNs, 1 SVN, 2 receptionists, all supported by our practice manager Wendy.

Marie has over 20 years’ experience and has a special interest in endoscopy, keyhole and soft tissue surgery, as well as feline geriatric medicine.  We have been offering laparoscopic spays for many years now, not only for our own patients but from others around the county. We encourage all of our vets to learn laparoscopic spays and we will be happy to set time aside so you can learn if needed.

After 12 years I still always look forward to going to work with the great team at Mid Sussex vets. Fantastic, supportive RVNs and experienced receptionists. Lovely vets with a range of ages and experience who all learn from each other, and a dedicated Practice Manager to keep everything running smoothly. We have a great boss in Marie, who has always aimed to run a practice that she would want to work at. She allows flexibility around our lives outside work, good support, a lot of clinical freedom and opportunities to develop. Really nice clients, premises and location and always something to laugh about – what more can I say!” Sue MRCVS

Our premises were purpose built in what was once a cow shed, providing us a lovely spacious practice with the additional benefit of air conditioning – a big plus in the summer! We have lovely clients who want to do the best for their animals and want us to work their cases up fully. We have great facilities including our laparoscopic equipment, digital x-ray, endoscopy, ultrasound, multi parameter and heated theatre table. We are currently adding dental x-ray and we are always keen to buy the equipment needed to provide the best care to our patients.

We believe in a good work life balance and ensure everyone gets a lunch break and plenty of refreshments throughout the day. We have a dedicated room where the team can take their paid lunch breaks or plenty of space outside to go for a walk in the fresh air.

We love getting together socially and have enjoyed karaoke nights, adventures at Go Ape and have even taken on the challenge of the Crystal Maze.

What is the working pattern like?

We are extremely flexible with our rota, so whether you’d like to work 3, 4 or 5 days a week, we’d love to chat about the options available. There are no out of hours or inpatient on call as this is outsourced to Pets Emergency Treatment Service (PETS). Our Saturday rota is just 1 in 4 (9am to 2pm). We encourage our team to bring their own ideas and experience.

So, what is in it for me as a Vet?

  • Salary up to £55k (dependent on experience, pro rata)
  • 6 weeks paid holiday including bank holidays
  • £1750 CPD Allowance per annum
  • Health Shield – wide ranging contributions for health and wellbeing treatments – from dentistry to sports massage
