Veterinary Surgeon
Blackness Veterinary Surgery, Dundee
Salary up to £65,000 depending on experience plus a relocation allowance up to £5,000 and welcome bonus up to £5,000

Here at Blackness Veterinary Surgery, we are recruiting a Veterinary Surgeon to join our team. Daily duties involve:

  • Operations and consultations.
  • Implementing and delivering inpatient care.
  • Working alongside a highly qualified Vet and Nurse team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Self-directed consultations.
  • Communicating with clients, relating to Patient care.
  • Developing Care plans for inpatients.
  • Carrying out routine surgery / diagnostics or dentistry.

The rota includes working up to 40 hours per week. Shift patterns can be flexible with the hours being between 8:00am-7:00pm with 1 late night per week. There will be 1 in 3 weekends with no out of hours.

About Blackness Veterinary Surgery

Blackness Veterinary Surgery is situated in the Heart of Dundee with close links to the Bus and Train Stations. Perth, Fife and Aberdeen are within a 1-hour car journey away.
The practice is a large newly renovated building with various facilities including 2 operating theatres, with piped oxygen, an imaging suite with X-ray and top of the range Ultrasound, dental suite with Dental X-ray facilities, an endoscopy unit, in-house lab equipment, a large training room, where we host regular lunch and learns / team meetings.

Meet our team!

Currently we have 6 Veterinary Surgeons, 7 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 1 Student Veterinary Nurse, 2 Animal Care Assistants and 7 Receptionists. One of our Vets and Nurses are working towards their exotic’s certificates. Our Nurses are Schedule 3 trained and are now carrying out staged Dentistry. We have a very strong Nursing team.

As a practice we work closely with our local kennels, treating stray dogs and cat protection as well as guide dogs. We have a close working relationship with the local SRUC colleges, developing Nurses and Veterinary Care Assistants.
