Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon Required at Nithsdale Vets, Dumfries
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and supportive team here at Nithsdale Vets, Dumfries and Thornhill! The role will include a varied range of first opinion consultations with the facilities and support to investigate cases to a higher standard. You will need to be competent in general basic surgery and neutering, but also ideally be able to tackle the common Out of hours surgeries sole charge, however some back up support could be provided.
Rota and Salary
We require a minimum of 17 hours a week over 2 weekdays, in addition 1:5 weekends which includes consulting on Saturday and Out of Hours cover. The Salary will be from £18,800 with an additional Out of Hours bonus. (Additional days may be considered)
Nithsdale Vets is a two-site small animal practice in Dumfries and Galloway. Both sites operate self-sufficiently with in suite labs, digital x-ray, ultrasound etc. We are a friendly practice with an experienced team who are always happy to help each other out. Interesting and varied caseload, majority of cases managed in house. Friendly town with good range of amenities, excellent area for outdoor pursuits.
About the Team and Culture
Our team consists of 7 Veterinary Surgeons (5 FTE), 5 Veterinary Nurses, with one certificate holder in surgery. We work closely with the local rescue centre, Blue Cross and PDSA and we try to provide a high standard of veterinary treatment for all budgets
The ideal candidate will be RCVS registered and competent in all routine surgeries, although support can be provided where needed. You will be an enthusiastic, passionate, patient and caring individual who is a team player and committed to providing outstanding clinical care and customer service. Due to our location and working between two sites, a driving license is essential.
