Job Description

We are 100% small animal, 6 Vet, single centre practice in the rural market town of Fakenham, close to the beautiful North Norfolk coast. We pride ourselves on being a friendly, approachable practice which works to a high standard of patient and client care. We have a wide range of diagnostic and surgical equipment.

Examples of equipment: video endoscope, air drill, arthroscope, wide range of orthopaedic and soft tissue surgical equipment, ventilator, colour doppler ultrasound, ECG, digital radiography and dedicated dental processor. Slit lamp, tonopen. Wide range of laboratory equipment including for electrolyes, lactate and blood clotting. Multi parameter anaesthesia monitors including capnography. K-laser.

We offer a good work-life balance, working a minimum 25.5 hours per week and 1:4 on call. We have excellent, supportive nursing, reception and admin teams. You will have clinical freedom, but support where necessary. All the vets work closely as a team and referral between individuals within the practice is encouraged.

We are looking for an Experienced Vet with a surgical bias who will work together with our senior Clinical Director to further progress the surgical side of our practice, with a view to taking referrals. At present we perform complex orthopaedic and soft tissue procedures, eg: TTA, ESF, spinal laminectomy, arytenoid lateralisation, TECA BO, Thoracic, etc. We would like someone who is highly motivated but also client orientated to join our team. We are in the process of moving to a larger, purpose fitted premises, which will allow us to have additional facilities and equipment.

The successful candidate must be competent at all routine procedures and have good all round knowledge to carry out on-call duties with nursing support. Ideally they should also have experience in more complex surgical procedures, with a certificate holder being desirable, however support to achieve an additional qualification will be given if one isn’t already held.
