Veterinary Ophthalmologist position in independent referral practice

Job Description

About Us

Scottish Vet Referrals is a dedicated, independent, referral centre located in the beautiful surroundings of the Inverness Campus in the heart of the Scottish Highlands

We provide acupuncture, cardiorespiratory, CT scanning, dermatology, BVA/KC eye testing, internal medicine and oncology, ophthalmology, orthopaedic surgery and soft tissue surgery services; delivering dedicated expertise with state of the art specialist equipment in a custom-designed facility.

An extension is planned to meet our growing caseload.

We take pride in offering high standards of veterinary care in a warm and welcoming environment.

The Role

The position involves the management of a wide and varied medical and surgical caseload. You will also provide support and advice to our referring veterinary surgeons. You will have access to slit-lamp biomicroscopy, indirect ophthalmoscopy, direct ophthalmoscopy, gonioscopy, tonometry, microsurgical kit, operating microscope and phacoemulsification unit.  You will also have access to DR x-ray, 64-slice CT and in-house laboratory.

As well as having the support of 2 ophthalmology certificate holders, of which one is an eye panellist, you will be working alongside a supportive, experienced nursing team.

Ideally, the candidate will hold a certificate and be looking to develop their diagnostic and surgical skills but we would consider someone studying towards their certificate.  Most importantly, the individual must be enthusiastic, have a caring attitude and be a good communicator and supportive colleague.

Full time preferred but part time considered.

You will be required to take part in a shared out-of-hours rota which includes weekends and bank holidays.

Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Package

  1. 30 days of annual leave (including bank holidays) increasing with length of service
  2. 1 days annual leave for your birthday
  3. RCVS fees paid
  4. VDS fees paid
  5. Generous CPD allowance
  6. Staff discount scheme
  7. Employer contribution pension scheme
