Baldivis Veterinary Hospital is seeking a Lead Surgical Veterinarian to join our growing multidisciplinary team. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced veterinarian with a passion for surgery to work in a purpose-built 24-hour hospital with a strong surgical caseload, modern equipment and an experienced team dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care.

About the Role

As a Lead Surgical Veterinarian, you will play a key leadership role within our surgical department, managing a diverse surgical caseload while mentoring veterinarians and nurses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide range of general surgical procedures.
  • Examine, diagnose and treat small animal medical and surgical patients.
  • Administer and prescribe medications, analgesics and anaesthetics.
  • Interpret pathology, radiography, ultrasound and other diagnostic imaging.
  • Manage complex surgical and hospital cases.
  • Provide clear treatment plans and communicate effectively with clients.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed clinical records.
  • Mentor veterinarians and veterinary nurses in surgical techniques and best practice.
  • Participate in the ongoing growth and development of the surgical department.

About You

You will have:

  • Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent).
  • Eligibility for registration as a Veterinary Surgeon in Western Australia.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in small animal medicine and surgery.
  • Strong soft tissue surgical skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • A genuine commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.

Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualification in surgery, diagnostic imaging or ultrasound (MANZCVS, GradCert or equivalent).
