Lateral wall resction at the end of surgery.  Nore the excellent exposure of the horizontal canal, creation of a drainage board and use of monofilament skin sutures, all steps critical to technical success.  Equally important in outcome however is the careful selection of cases: candidates for this surgery are rather uncommon, since most dogs presented at an early stage can be managed through assessment and treatment of generalised skin disease.
