Semi-lateral xray of a dog with frontal sinus empyaema due to traumatic obstruction of the ostium. Some weeks previously, blunt external trauma to the head had occured. Note the distension of the frontal sinus on the Xray, and the sinus is filled with soft tissue density. The roof of the sinus is disrupted due to pressure necrosis. This dog was managed by exploratory surgery, debridement of the mucopus and granulation tissue within the sinus and recreation of the ostium.
