Lateral: 10 year old Golden retriever

  • Full flexed view attempted but this is as far as the elbow will flex.
  • Extensive new bone formation
    • The caudal anconeus is barely recognisable
    • Massive osteophyte on the proximo-cranial extremity of the radial head
    • Large, mature new bone extending caudally from the medial epicondylar ridge
    • Crescent shaped "ruff" of irregular osteophytes on the proximal ulna corresponding to the attachment of the joint capsule.
  • Note the illusion of bone lysis created by the spaces between osteophytes - this can be mistaken for evidence of neoplasia.
