This is a short intra-operative video. The patient is a 6month old FE Shar Pei that presented with poor growth and ascites. Abdominal ultrasound and Doppler studies identified an Hepatic AV fistula. Surgery was performed by my colleague Dr Carolyn Burton. The AV fistula was located in the caudate process of the caudate lobe and successfully resected. You hopefully may be able to see the blood swirling around inside the most prominent part of the fistula (the cherry like projection) in addition to this there are a number of acquired shunts.

The dog went on to recover well for surgery and the ascites fully resolved. Six month follow up the dog is eating and growing normally.
