PR tips for your practice

PR Tips for your veterinary practice - Get noticed.

I know from experience that many Veterinary practices shy away from PR better known as Public relations. I feel that this is a missed opportunity for you and your team, to show to your clients what excellent work takes place in your practice.

As a part of Dimension Eighty Eights training courses in Veterinary practices; I deliver a basic course around PR and Marketing for your Practice. I would like to point out that Marketing is an on going activity in any business and can be achieved by using social media, advertising, print media and promotional materials in house.

PR is linked to marketing activity. However because many people do not fully understand how to use public relations to their advantage, they tend to overlook this advantageous form of communication with their clients.

So here are some of my PR tips which will get your practice known in your area.

1. Local newspapers are always looking for good news stories. You do not have to advertise with them to get a good news story into the press. If your news story is popular it will be picked up by other journalists and possibly national media. These can cover: Guide dogs that have save one of your clients life, do's and don'ts over Christmas and Easter with regards to foods that your pets should not eat over the period, to winning awards such as nurse of the year and so on.

2.Television companies such as local BBC news are always looking for good new stories when it comes to helping youth unemployment. Are you assisting in a project in your area to get young unemployed people into work. Work experience also counts. This is a great way to show your clients and new ones how you are helping your local community. Visits to your practice will increase!

3. Social media and facebook- Everyone in the world is on facebook get your clients to like you. Facebook is so popular and you could put missing pets on your page to help find them/ reunite them with owners. However this type of media is very powerful and missing pet snakes put on your page as a missing pet can start a media storm!

4. An employee has one an award! This is great PR and is worth a good news story! Get it into the newspaper and get double PR for your practice and the charity / business giving the award.

You do not have to be an expert in PR to get a good news story into the media. Most journalists and media agencies will understand you are not PR specialists and will assist you with the story. They even give you a preview of the article before it goes to print.

Our basic PR and marketing course has been tried and tested with great results. Contact me today and get your practice noticed.
