Dr. Annette Litster, Director of the Maddie's Shelter Medicine Program at Purdue University, recently produced a video relating to in-house antibody titer tests such as VacciCheck for use in animal shelter medicine.

They also recently organized a seminar with 1500 participants on how to use antibody titer testing to prevent or reduce an outbreak of disease in a shelter:

Titer testing with both the Canine (Adenovirus, Parvo and Distemper virus) and Feline (Panleukopenia, Calici and Herpes virus) VacciCheck, is helpful to use:
· during outbreaks to determine which animals are protected and able to proceed through the animal shelter system as usual.
· to determine which animals need extra protection through isolation or foster care until such time as they are antibody positive.
Testing can also help determine which animals can be fast-tracked to adoption and which animals will require extra precautions.
Additional benefits for VacciCheck:
1. Immune response following vaccination (puppies/kittens).
2. To determine if revaccination is necessary.
