The BSAVA has released a new edition of its Small Animal Formulary, bring with it the simultaneous release of both Part A: Canine and Feline and Part B: Exotic Pets for the first time.

Fergus Allerton has become the Editor-in-Chief for Part A: Canine and Feline, whilst Joanna Hedley is the Editor-in-Chief for Part B: Exotic Pets.

For both formularies, the editorial panels have reviewed the drug monographs to make sure all the information is up to date.

Part A includes:

  • 13 new drug monographs, including additional chemotherapeutic agents.
  • updated guidelines on antibacterial use, which reflect the information provided in the 2018 PROTECT ME initiative.
  • 9 new client information leaflets, available to BSAVA members via the BSAVA Library or the BSAVA app

Part B includes:

  • 12 new drug monographs.
  • reviewed and updated general appendix and protocols

BSAVA President, Sue Paterson said: "The BSAVA Small Animal Formulary is recognised as an invaluable asset for the small animal clinician and is one of the Association’s most useful member benefits.
