Diet can reduce need for NSAIDs by up to 25%

Hill's Pet Nutrition has highlighted recent studies which, the company says, prove that feeding a food enriched with omega-3 fatty acids from fish oils to dogs with osteoarthritis results in a reduction in NSAID dosage of up to 25% 1 , owner observed improvements in clinical signs 3 , and improved weight bearing ability 2, 7 The claim that food can effectively support medical treatment follows in the wake of two published and one in press study in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medicine Association (JAVMA).
