Dear VetSurgeon Member

VetSurgeon.org has just funded the Open Access publication of a new peer-reviewed paper in the Veterinary Record, as some free CPD towards your annual requirement.

The paper, by Professor Peter Lees, Ludovic Pelligand, Martin Whiting, Danny Chambers, Pierre-Louis Toutain and Martin Whitehead, considers all sorts of fascinating topics of real importance in general practice, including:

Errors in human thinking that can cause people, even veterinary surgeons, to think a treatment - conventional or alternative - is working when it isn't.

Strengths and weaknesses of scientific trials.

Ethics of alternative medicines and placebos.

It is also the most comprehensive comparative review of homeopathy vs conventional medicine in the veterinary profession; perhaps even in the field of human medicine.

It's a two part paper and the links to both parts of the paper can be found at the foot of this article.

To claim time spent reading the paper towards your annual CPD requirement, or to join in an interesting discussion about it, visit this discussion thread and use the 'Claim CPD' link at the top right.

All the best
