What is more surprising are the owners who ask for pts without any sort of attempt at treatment - we are talking mild arthritis, early heart failure and from owners who have previously had pets who did get some palliative care for their old age conditions.

Re: Christmas clear-out
Most human funerals are in actually in January as people 'hang on' for Christmas, which is nice.
My mother in law used to get ill every Christmas to the extent that we joked about booking her hospital bed for Christmas day and we began to be quite cynical about it as it appeared to be attention seeking. Finally, last year, she got the last laugh and died on Christmas day. Mrs A and her sister took it philosophically though and said that at least they wouldn't have to ruin Christmas this year having to visit her!

PS they did put her on ice until January though!

Re: Christmas clear-out

It could be carpenters making coffins, and branching out into undertaking

Go to your PMS. Run a report on sale of service "euthanasia" including dates and species for, say, last five years

i tend to agree with this.

It is just a time of year when emotions are running a bit higher. In addition some worry because it is the longest period of the year where vets are generally open for emergencies only so I think this concentrates the mind a bit!

Re: Christmas clear-out
Anybody else seeing a large rise in animals being presented for PTS with the owners already committed to PTS, no attempt to investigate or trial treatment and no attempt to persuade them otherwise makes much difference?
