This can be down to a number of things. The most likely is that your ISP or email programme has wrongly marked the Colleague notification

Re: Colleagues

When you find someone on this site that you know, and click on their profile, you'll see a button which says: 'Add to Colleagues'.

When you click this button, the system sends a request from you to that person, inviting them to become a colleague on the site. You may personalise this message if you wish.

If the recipient accepts your request, they will be added to your own personal address book of your colleagues within the profession, found under 'My Account > My Colleagues'. You'll be added to their list of colleagues at the same time.

This (I hope), will be useful for a number of reasons:

1. We offer referral practitioners their own newsfeed on the site, to keep their referring clients up to date with the latest developments at their practice / in their discipline. When a GP makes a 'Colleague' of a referral vet, that referral vets headlines are then displayed on the GPs personalised home page.

2. The system can also be used to build a peer support group of your peers, whose opinions you value, and who you might like to confer with from time to time.

3. Other possible reasons for adding people to your contact list: alumni, suppliers, friends etc. For example, I think it might be good to encourage sales reps of leading manufacturers to be on here. I am sure there are some reps who are the last people in the world you would like to keep in touch with, but others you'd like to maintain contact with, but are often too busy.

As regards finding people on the site that you know ... there are two ways. Either click the 'Find Colleagues' main menu item, and search by name or membership category. Alternatively, whenever a member publishes content on this site (jobs / events / news / forum), a link to their profile appears alongside (from where you may Add to Colleagues).

Re: Colleagues

Arlo - what is a colleague request?
