What the heck are SMART targets? I don't want to look overly ignorant. Google suggests it is the in thing!

One of two things. Either head-teacher has recently paid through the nose for some dodgy business consultant's advice, or alternatively, head teacher got the new "Bullshit Bingo" game for Christmas.
The school is;

Ofsted outstanding, Arts Council England Artmark, a Healthy School, an investor in people, a science college, a National Teaching School, something to do with the Olympics, a National College for something and a leadership partner school. I know this because the headed paper is half taken up with logo's! It is independent of the local council as well!

Fortunately despite all this it is a very good school! Now, thanks to Mark I can go and use my obviously limited intellect and play them at their own game! I will prepare tonight whilst watching our new 3D tele that arrived yesterday but couldn't watch last night because there was a power cut!

SAW3D for the kids and Gnomio & Juliet 3D for me!

Re: Help with SMART targets!
Yup! One reason she retired early was the constant meddling from government and education authorities try to impose measurable parameters on the unmeasurable. Our two daughters are chalk and cheese, both obviously very clever but one responds to a kick up the arse, is a constant over-achiever, adrenaline junkie who sets herself punishing targets, the other retreats into her shell if pushed, under-achieves and just plods along at her own pace with her own agenda.
She is happy at school (loves it), is doing well and is always enthusiastic.

I have to give 'three possible areas of development for my child's targets'! Dina is happy, I am happy with her progress! What more is there to achieve?

I remember going to parents evenings to be told how well the boys were doing (sometimes not that well, boys being boys!). Those were the days!
