Middlesborough is ideal. My brother lives and works there. Property is inexpensive and residents have the great benefit of the North Sea coastline and the North Yorks Moors.

It is a beautiful area and the brisk winter weather would blow away a lot of London cobwebs.

Please note those near Middlesborough, I am not having a go at the area. It genuinely would be a good move!

Any other suggestions?

RCVS being held to ransom by inefficient drones who refuse to move out of London? Couldn't make it up. A lovely light industrial unit on the edge of a charming northern town would be just the job to shake it up.

It is likely that if as little as a move out of London would have predictably led to the departure of senior staffers at RCVS, then the move would have been made some time ago. The mismanagement and malaise in Belgravia House is not down to geography but personalities - employees who have failed to impress and senior officers who failed to lead.

It is nice to think that things are being changed.

Is this yet another opportunity to push for the RCVS to move out of London, or is that possibility the cause of the resignation? Wasn't it said recently that senior staff would resign if the RCVS left the capital?

But no, press releases to me come via an intermediate email address, which seems to have failed.

So I think I'm still on the RCVS Christmas card list, though I'm not holding out any hope for an Honorary Associateship

I doubt it.

Ms Hern's departure coincides with fifteen years in the post and allows her to pursue other aims.

It also comes at an unprecedented time at RCVS, with the recent overspend and the, yet to be ratified, report from the Governance Review Group

The rest of the statement bears comment in that the RCVS will be reviewing their own governance and, in a curious turn of phrase, how the future Registrar's role will support Officers and Council.

Anyone want to put into her leaving fund?

Thinks: Does it mean end of the RCVS year (i.e. end of March) or this calendar year? It gets very confusing here with lunar years and the like.
