I see the "consultation period" that ended on June 24th has been extended to July 13th so that BVA can consider it. I suggest we all send copies of our submissions to the BVA thus giving them a slightly less faint chance of being taken notice of.

Yeah, I agree the only thing I'd like to see clarified and emphasisied is this, which I think is so fundamental.

3. Veterinary surgeons must take steps to provide emergency first aid and pain relief to ALL and any animals [drop the plural]

according to their skills and the specific situation.

There should be no doubt or confusion, any vet must take steps etc. to ALL and any animals with the proviso as you say, that a poultry vet cannot be expected to be able to give expert assistance to a lion but, nevertheless, has more knowledge and ability to provide emergency first aid than an ordinary member of the public.

My email to them was very brief and very to the point! Why replace a document (guide) with a wish list? Why so vague on so much and so specific about the PSS.

Well done for those who have made more effort and argued the points so thoroughly.

According to the draft code I could be disciplined by the RCVS if my PAT testing is late - hardly a veterinary matter or an immediate threat to my patients me thinks!

Put my response on my file as well - feeling very proud of myself for getting a computer to do anything - all well done to Arlo. Happy to see similar comments being made. Have even had a very nice reply from Mr Murdoch at RCVS saying the email had been received!!

Hopefully there will be a final 'stampede' of comments winging themselves to them. It is a document based on a tried and tested format that the RCVS have added their own detailed agenda IMHO making it potentially a disaster document.
