Please don't tell me the simplified system is as bad as the old one.

We have a non-qualified 'nurse' who can knock the socks off a number of qualified ones in her confidence and competence and we are investigating whether we can register as a training practice in cooperation with a bigger practice to cover the bits we cannot. She is enthusiastic about a new challenge (more, I hasten to add, than I am!)!

I just liked the fact that they got your address from the register of veterinary practices?

and, I have just had my VMD inspection, and for further torture I am re-registering as a training practice. just as much fun as it was before they 'simplified' the sytem

The alternative would be to pay Her Majesties Government a fee directly. The RCVS seem to be a pretty useless bunch but in comparison to the government no comparison I fear!

Yup, no registration system in existence costs £100,000 ( 40*2500) to run annually when the info barely changes. If it costs £200,000 annually, that is PSS plus non-PSS practices then RCVS are profoundly inefficient. If it doesn't then RCVS is being dishonest. They will tell you that this is only a fraction of their annual income, to which my response is....AND, is RCVS being inefficient or hogging £200,000? To which RCVS say it is only a fraction of their income, i.e. they cannot get their heads round the idea that it is profoundly wrong. This is the sort of thing that'll get them reviewed by someone and sent off into the night. They are masters at authoring their own demise.

They are hosting the Register of Practice Premises for VMD. RCVS determined that they are the "natural" place to host this, because they are the masters of Register of Members and volunteered. VMD didn't protest. It's nothing to do with corporate ownership. It's just a Register of where drugs are. Those of us who did fight this were farting-against-thunder. I am now of the opinion that appealing to MPs to speak to VMD on the basis of exploitation, of unfairness in charging is the way forward. In other words get VMD to tell RCVS that they can have the Register as long as they do not overcharge for it.

I hate to say it but you will always worry about everything but you will learn to 'compartmentalise' those worries that keep you awake at night and those you cannot be 'ar**d' to lose sleep over. The VMD and RCVS fall into the latter category for me!
