I cling to the, naive as it
turns out, notion that candidates mean what they say. I even believe what future
Presidents say, but then I am naive.

A Five Point Plan for RCVS

What, do you think, would be the situation if there were no RCVS; anarchy, barricades in the streets, indignant letters to The Times?

I ask because I have dutifully paid my sub for more than fifty years; half that time MRCVS was compulsory because I was in UK or working on UK sponsored projects abroad. Since then I have worked in an environment where MRCVS is not a requirement provided you have a veterinary degree from a university whose standards are considered acceptable. You might say that the standards of my university were guaranteed by RCVS; probably true for me and one or two others but not for the majority of vets here. We have no equivalent to RCVS although we would relish an equivalent to BVA. There are some requirements of pricing and staffing of veterinary clinics and veterinary pharmacies. Animal owners depend mostly on personal recommendations and minimal advetising and vote with their feet and pockets. We seem to muddle along quite satisfactorily and it does not cost me a penny (aside from my RCVS and BVA subscriptions!).

Would it work in UK?
