Veterinary example of "Bureaucratitis "

When I worked in Llandrindod Wells, I used to drop TB forms at the local Welsh Office Agriculture Dept office on the way home

One day I did a TB test on the one farm in the entire practice NOT in Wales-it was approx 1/4 mile intoShropshire-wrote upthe test on automatic pilot,dropped it off as usual

A few days later, back came the form in the post, with instructions to send it to Shrewsbury !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I happened tomeet one of the WOAD veterinarians socially a few days later,and said "Why couldn't you have just posted it toShrewsbury, instead of back to me ? Don't you people talk to each other ?"

I was told with an absolutely straight face "You didn't just get the wrong office-you got the wrong Government Dept -they're MAFF-we're WOAD "

It's a lot more local than the "local" lamb from New Zealand

From the article...

"There is no legal definition of "local" in food labelling. But the food law code of practice states that it should mean "sales within the supplying establishment's own county plus the greater of either the neighbouring county or counties or 30 miles/50 kilometres from the boundary of the supplying establishment's county"."

Can he advertise is as "raised in Northumbria" or "raised locally" with no reference to the site of slaughter rather than northumbrian or local. That would then be a statement rather than a description.

Ah, but what councils cut are "lollipop patrols" and £100 grants to scout groups. Then blame it on the gumment. The higher in the bureaucracy they are and the bigger their salaries, the more immune they are. The "chief executive" ( ) is absolutely safe in his six-figure salary plus perks.

Looking on the bright side, the butcher can probably get a good deal of free advertisement for his lamb (which sounds excellent) out of the farce.
