One of the reasons I like VetSurgeon so much is that it is like reading the letter page of the Vet Times every day, brilliant!

This. It reads more and more like a tabloid newspaper. Some of the "news" is reported in a style one would expect in the Sun. They do occasionally have very useful articles but usually its a skim-and-dump for me.

Difference between that and just posting in the forums - Letters to the editor is more formal, and I will look into anything that is written to me...

Much quicker and more interactive than traditional print letters. For instance, allows the target of your rant to respond directly, and quickly.

Unless I'm very much mistaken "we" are from the same stable as Veterinary Practice [scroll down to the bottom of the page, look right].

I like Vet Times, but often the large animal articles don't tell you anything you don't already know, find it much more use for my less familiar areas. Like the letters page. Veterinary Practice is similar, usually sit down and have a good look at that. I try to read the Vet Business one but find it rather dry!

In Practice wins for me as the best read - usually up to date, comprehensive articles that push the boundaries of what you already know. If I have a case I want so info on the In Practice article is where I go first.

UK Vet is ok, and has a mix of very good articles, like In Practice, and then these 'this is what I do' articles with 4 or 5 separate people's take on the same thing. That can be interesting in itself.

Rarely read any papers in Vet Record, but look at the news, letters and sometimes the jobs.

I try to read Vet Times every week for the news and letters + anything else i find interesting. Business times i normally find something interesting to look at but dont read it all. UK Vet when the free ones arrive i tend to look at the contents and read specific parts only.

I read Vet Practice Magazine on-line here anyway so by the time the printed version arrives I have already read it! Not sure we get UK Vet here.

I always read the vet times, usually skim through veterinary practice and quickly skim through JSAP for anything interesting (though I admit to not having the staying power for most of the papers!). I haven't been a BVA member for some years now and don't miss the Vet Record, although I did find In Practice very useful. I haven't read UK Vet for ages, but remember it as being good. How does one go about receiving it?

Vet times is definately the number one read although in practice does tend to be good as well. I sometimes read UK vet and the veterinary buisness journal.

I'd agree Vet Times is probably my most read, always go through it tho I have to say I have a growing pile of saved articles I mean to read at sometime. Vet Practice is skim-read but there are fewer articles that I will sit down & read (or save in my "to read" pile)

Of the subscription ones I'm afraid JSAP is rarely opened, tend to find that much of it either doesn't seem relevant or is just a little too studious. Similarly VetRec, having rejoined BVA for the first time in about 6yrs I then remembered that I only opened VetRec for job ads + letters. I do value In Practice, rather like the new Companion journal from BSAVA and I also like UKVet (not sure if that's subscription or not)

Have to say my preference in journals tends towards articles that review a topic rather than case reports or research articles, I find they're easier to digest and have more relevance to every day work.

Vet Times definitely my most read - enjoy the fact that it is a bit lighter and has a good letters page. Makes good reading if get a gap in the day. Vet Practice probably comes second behind, of course often some crossover between the two.

I do 'browse' JSAP - find a mix of some papers/articles that are useful and some that are also 'over my head' or not of interest to me.

I stopped reading Vet Record a few years ago- articles are generally far too obscure and I am not a BVA member anymore. I like In Practice though (the partners copy finds it way into work each month) - often very informative articles. UK Vet also can be quite good, again like In Practice often some good informative articles.

JSAP, unfortunately often goes a bit 'over my head' (please read that as being too dry to keep my attention!). I genuinely try to read it from cover to cover. Vet Record occasional articles are interesting but letters often get my attention.

Vet Times seems out front for me for the free papers but I do skim/read them all at some stage. In Practice can sometimes be incredibly useful. Obviously Vet Record and In Practice are not free!

I read companion, JSAP, Vet Times. I find Companion more useful than JSAP, mainly because i find more day to day tips in companion as opposed to JSAP. Vet Times is a good read for the letters in the back and the vet news. I'm not a bva member so at present i don't get the record or in practice. I do like in practice very much, though.
