Hi,

Not wanting to do a sales job, but Vetofol is still very much available and I've been advised there are no issues with raw materials or production of Vetofol so it is available as an option without having to panic bulk buy stocks of it.

We got on well with alfaxan until the op where the 'apnoea' went on (almost) throughout the whole surgery. The nurse did the ventilation and cat was fine but was a little unsettling! Poss fast with injection!

I have gently slipped back into the propofol habit (not in the Michael Jackson way!).

Got to say, if you 'bang in' the Alfaxan you get worse apnoea. Slow and steady is the way to do it with either, and more so with Alfaxan in my experience.

Doesn't bother me as I changed entirely to alfaxan some time ago-both my RVN and I prefer it for greater controllability,

I will just place my panic-buy order so we have a year or two Propofol on the shelf gathering dust. (Sorry not gathering dust - we are a fairly clean practice).

I've just done some sums for interest, and the cost of Alfaxan seems to work out a bit more than four times the cost of propofol.

Whoops. There goes my chance for the prize draw.

We use heavy pre-med so only small amount of induction needed, but the cost of the propofol was 1/2-1/3 the cost of the Alfaxan.

We got lots and lots of Propofol when it was on offer so have a years supply!

Our group of practices is not very big - 3 mixed animal practices. We are not going to exhaust stocks of propofol - we probably use more TM spray, willcain and duphamox la than propofol! And as I said I'm just trying to give you all a heads up.

Would you rather I hadn't posted Evelyn? I was trying to be helpful for goodness sakes!
