Don't know about vets not changing their names but it is frequently very confusing when a pet is registered under one partner's name and the other partner comes in (whether they keep separate names when married or are not married) under another name. Sometimes it takes cross-examination and the Spanish inquisition to get them to concede that maybe the pet is registered under another name.
