I got round to watching that Midsommer Murders episode this weekend. He struggled and seemed distressed when tons of concrete were poured over him. With a big dose of ketamine in the system he probably should have been mildly curious at most!

How did the vet in question not identify immediately that he had 'lost' some ketamine. As soon as he filled in his 'informal register' he should have realised and phoned the Police!

I was operated on several times under ketamine while working in Mozambique. It was lovely, I was floating along the ceiling of the operating theater which had fascinating patterns of previous waterleaks and fungus on it, and I could hear all the conversations going on, but felt that I did not have anything to do with them. Since then I have always understood the term dissociative.....

Not watched it yet but apparently Midsommer Murders have a murdering vet. Sorry if this was mentioned in a previous post.

A murdering vet is more understandable as eventually everyone in Midsommer XXXXXXXXX is either a murderer or a victim. I understand this is just down the road from Arlo - Midsommer Mells I understand!

Be careful out there!

That sounds all too familiar. We had an false activation of our monitored alarm at home recently and I was called back to turn it off, and open up for the nice policeman who had turned up. He wanted to be sure that it was a false alarm and insisted on looking in every room (nice to know they do their job sometimes) when he got to my daughter's bedroom there was confirmation as far as he was concerned of a burglary - everything strewn over the floor, draws spilling their contents - until I pointed out that certain valuables like her laptop, stereo and expensive guitars were still there! However that is nothing compared to her university flatmate whose room was so untidy she could no longer get into her own bed and slept in my daughter's bed when she wasn't there.

A good way to dispose of a body is to feed it to the pigs. There was a famous case here in the 70s - the wife of the editor of the Daily Express was kidnapped and held to ransom. Eventually the police arrested a couple of thugs who owned a pig farm nearby (clients of the practice) . They were tried and convicted of murder, but the body was never found. Everyone believed they had fed it to the pigs. The senior partner in the practice always said he felt uneasy visiting the farm afterwards, as he felt the pigs were constantly eyeing him up, as if for a tasty meal.

I was right - the vet was innocent!

The Police should not even bother considering the local vet if there is a murder. He or she will either be innocent or so good that they won't be caught!

Apparently the idea of disposing of body parts inside our dogs going for cremation was part of a plan to get rid of me if the nurses got fed up with me!

A vet in a neighbouring practice spent some time 'helping the police with their enquiries' after the body of a woman he'd been having an affair with was found on the railway embankment. It turned out the perpetrator was someone else she'd also been seeing so he was released after a few days but he had to resign from the Rotary Club because of the scandal of the affair. The shame of it!!

LOL!!! And presumably they'd need about three PIC meetings before daring to strike him off!

One night about 18 years ago my former boss committed suicide by throwing himself off the roof of his house after murdering his wife in bed with an axe. His adult daughter was asleep in the house all the time and didn't hear a thing. She was unhurt physically but pretty traumatised mentally as you would imagine. He had mental health problems so it probably wouldn't have been murder even if he'd survived to face a trial.

As a real life example; here in WA several years ago a veterinarian was charged with manslaughter after a youth was found dead on his premises after taking ketamine and halothane. The vet (male) had a history of cultivating young men, attracted by the easy access to drugs and an anything goes party atmosphere in his home. The youths would help themselves; and when they were mostly insensible the vet was "topping them up" with something (the coroner determined the levels of drugs in the system were too high to be self administered, ie it's hard to self administer when you are fast asleep); and then having his wicked way. there's a link http://www.perthnow.com.au/news/western-australia/vet-faces-manslaughter-trial/story-e6frg13u-1111112693917

It's always amused me how certain professions are considered more trustworthy than others: the vet committed suicide the night before the trial was due to start.

disturbingly i lived in the same block of flats as him! we had the police round showing us pics of the prostitutes he murdered and asking if we'd seen them around!

Ooh, not thought of hiding it in the body!

Had thought that body bags would be a good disposal technique - finger in with a guinea pig, foot with a cat, arm with a lab, would take a while but would work, particularly during the pre-Christmas Angel of Death period I seemed to go through when no shortage of bodies sadly...hadn't considered hiding in a laparotomy, less risk of the casual discovery!

Results of a rather well lubricated practice Xmas dinner and a receptionist's rather annoying husband...nasty plans for perfect murder...fear the plans were too public though - we'd be the first suspects!

I hiding bodyparts within animals body cavitiesmay work, but bones may be an issue so you'd need to do it little bit at a time so that there is nothing recognisable as a hand etc.

I went on a modular course and one of the other delegates had just moved practice to somewhere that had its own on-site incinerator. Now THAT's the way ahead. Oddly enough the last time I saw her she mentioned that her boss's wife had 'left him' unexpectedly. Not sure if she checked through the ashes for human skulls.

Bob, I think that plotline would work better in 'Luther'. Although after the first series, he now knows to check the deceased family pets for bits of stray evidence.
