Though it's difficult during this time of the year (still don't know which one ), I'm considering several ways to find the job.
I found a recruitment agencies, named BrightLeaf. Have anyone experience

Re: Recruitment Agencies
In terms of the permanent role, I would advise using a good agency like Brightleaf, Carlton or A1 Locums, who I feel do a better job in this respect.

Best of luck!
Hi Emma,

that's a good idea, to combine an agency good for locum and one for permanet jobs.

My intention is to try a bit of locum 'til I find the right permanent position for me.

I had another look on BrightLeaf's website and there are some positions in the area where I'm looking for,

so I'll probably register with them even if this agency doesn't seem very common in the forum.

And I didn't know about A1 Locums and they seems good as well.

So I have to thank you a lot!
I found a recruitment agencies, named BrightLeaf. Have anyone experience with them, or with some other agencies?
I have found both locum and permanent work through agencies. I do have experience of Brightleaf and found they stood out from the rest in that they offered a very personal service, were very professional, efficient and put a lot of effort into finding the right thing for me rather than just bombarding me with everything. I've also found Carlton Professional to be good too.

You can register with as many agencies as you wish, but I would imagine that 2 or 3 would be enough. I have found Rig to be very pushy and annoying at times (e.g. different members of staff contacting you about the same job on several occasions) but as Vicki has said, if you're desperate for locum work whilst you're seeking something permanent, then they will probably provide plenty of opportunities if you're willing to travel. In terms of the permanent role, I would advise using a good agency like Brightleaf, Carlton or A1 Locums, who I feel do a better job in this respect.

Best of luck!

Re: Recruitment Agencies
I just asked them not to send my CV to the particular job - it wasn't a big deal for them, especially as I was already going to 3 interviews they'd arranged at the time.
Ok, so if you got 3 interviews it looks like efficiency.

Many thanks for your suggestions.

Could I eventually register with more than one agency at a time?

Gareth, how did you do in this case? Just declined the offer? You know, it's important to have the right job for you.

Incidentally if you are looking for locum or permanent work, try our website www.ccvets.co.uk and have a look at the locum section as there are loads of jobs advertised nationwide on here that don't necessarily make it into Vet Times.

Vikki
Thanks Vikki for this, your website is already in my bookmarks. I had a look in it, and I could find some locum positions available over the week-ends, which I'm very interested in at the moment.

Thank you all,

They have their drawbacks, i.e they can be pushy and do offer you a few jobs that are not "in your area", however I have alsways found them helpful and a good source of work. They are pushy, but that is the nature of the recruitment industry I'm afraid, they come from a completely different background and will try hard to fill roles as that way they get paid. Yes they may offer you roles that you would not usually have applied for, however you may be pleasantly surprised, some of those I had reservations about taking turned out to be great jobs and have left me with lots of friends and colleagues and a network of practices I know and trust.

I would have no hesitation in recommending them, and if you don't like the jobs they offer, decline them politely, but remember these guys are doing you a favour in saving you the hassle of looking and applying individually, they also have some inside contracts with some of the corporate groups which never get advertised, so whilst you may be offered 2 weeks in South Wales in a mixed practice when you wanted a permanent job in Manchester in a small animal practice, but if you stick with them, something will turn up!

I have also used Noble Futures for industry positions, Brookfield Veterinary Recruitment, Northern Locum agency, and have registered with Carlton and others but there was never any work North of about Birmingham with most of these!

Hope you find something soon
