So here we are again. Having booked this week off and employed my locum so I could get the Christmas shopping done early and also the house ready for family and friends descending over the festive period, we woke to about 8 inches of snow this

Re: Global Warming Strikes again?

Apart from dipping into these fora and catching up with insurence forms, I'm trying to get a certificate case history knocked into shape

Last year we had days where our takings were down 90%!!! Very expensive. Some we made up later, some we did not. We are in the sunny south and the council have never heard of grit and salt.

Re: Global Warming Strikes again?

The weakening of the Gulf Stream is scientific fact-so we will end upwith the climate suitable for our latitude-the same as bits of both Canada and Scandinavia-scary and also very worrying when one thinks of the effect on animals

Walked into work this morning in snow gear (cross country skis would have been the most suitable transport) - I think this will be the story all week. All my first hours appointments cancelled, my colleague is attacking todays very exciting ops list of er, a cat spey. Insurance forms all done, phone calls up to date. Roads seem to be clearing so think this pm will be better, otherwise it's a day of looking for a new snowboard on the internet!

Amazing how we come to a standstill - can any Canadian/Scandinavian etc. members tell us if they have similar problems or is it just the UK being disorganised?

Re: Global Warming Strikes again?

Monday morning very slow - previous booked appts cancelling even though traffic moving now - looks like coffee and catch up with some reading.
Nope, neither did I until today! We had it too and I did not believe my nurse who called me at 8.30 from Crieff to say the roads were impassable and she had seen/heard lightning and thunder with the snow. I later revised my belief as it happened here in Blairdummond!

Re: Global Warming Strikes again?

I do sometimes wonder if global warming is just a political tool, each side will find the statsitics that suits it's agenda. Of course one of the effects of global warming will be the weakening of the Gulf Stream so our winters will get colder - maybe it's already happening. However I read yesterday that the rate of warming is decreasing because of increased pollution reflecting sunlight, it wasn't so long ago that I read that decreased pollution is causing increased temperature.

Re: Global Warming Strikes again?

Wow, it must really have been snowing heavily for a cantering horse to get a 2" covering

Re: Global Warming Strikes again?
suitably snowy piccies!
