What planet are these people on? How can they suggest

Re: Is a ''SQP'' as good as a Pharmacist?

Definitely sloppily qualified

A vet is suitably qualified, as is a pharmacist. The bloke working in the agricultural merchant is too. For some strange reason a RVN isn't
but it is this 'bloke in the agricultural merchant' that is now considered fully trained to make the decision as to which prescription only medicine his 'client' should use. The idea that anyone with days of training rather than years should be considered fit to prescribe is so insulting as to defy belief.

How much parasite resistance on farms can be attributed to poor advice given at the merchants (I accept that with the loss of wormer sales many vets gave up with advising farmers in the past). Sales were often based on price, advertising, free gifts and pretty boxes!

Many (if not most) 'SQP's' are minimally trained sales assistants, nothing more. To make any comparison to degree holders is a disgrace.

Vets, pharmacists (and nurses) are not SQP's they are properly trained persons - PQP's

It had occurred to me that I and my nurses were totally unqualified to flog Frontline and Drontal over the counter to any Tom, Dick or Harry that comes through the door when we haven't got an SQP. Should I fear the full weight of the law bearing down on my shoulders if I continue to do so and be classed in the same category as the shopkeeper who sells fags to a 12 year old?
SQP stands for "suitably qualified person". That's you. Or your VN. I think the wording about "suitably qualified person" was meant to keep the legislation broad, not to create a new profession of "SQP". I'm probably wrong, being a cynical old grump, but I think the idea of a professional "SQP" was invented by DEFRA.

"What do you want to do when you grow up, little dear?" "Mummy, mummy, I want to be a suitably qualified person"

Amazing how years of training count for nothing when the drug companies want to sell medicines with little control!!!

Re: Is a ''SQP'' as good as a Pharmacist?

It had occurred to me that I and my nurses were totally unqualified to flog Frontline and Drontal over the counter to any Tom, Dick or Harry that comes through the door when we haven't got an SQP.
