NVS price for 'furminators' (I know that's a little off-topic, being grooming paraphernalia not meds) is more expensive than ebay. So by the time we've added our mark up too...

Really interesting re the human meds sourced from chemists vs NVS. Good to know.

BNF price about £5 per 100 and selling to client ay £12 or so incl VAT so obviously working on 100% mark up. I suspect a mark up level of 100% is quite appropriate but our buying price is wrong!!!!!

Nothing to stop you using a wholesale human chemist; vet wholesalers medical POM prices irrational and over the top [and you forgot the special order/delivery fee too]

i found this with the only time I used Zometa. NVS were charging £272, we were told it would take 5-7 days to order in as a special and 2 weeks later they told us they couldn't get it. I got it direct from Novartis for £180 with free delivery by 12.00 the next day.

I realise they must put a mark up on drugs, but 50% mark up for a rubbish service?

Is this how internet pharmacies sell drugs at such a low price - act as a wholesaler themselves and purchase direct from the manufacturer?

Just had a look in this March's BNF ( ask your gp or local chemist for a copy) branded gabapentin 300mg called neurontin by pfizer net price from manufacturer £42.40, where as generic 300mg x 100 capsules £5.52 !!!! I have found very similar things with our wholesaler, if I had pushed them they will stock the generic but only as a special so it cannot be returned and will often take 2 weeks to get so I just source them from the local chemist myself - good to have one a few doors down and with a great working relationship.
