I've been thinking about this, and it's a bit difficult to organise the logistics of measuring referrals. I suppose I just have to hope that you, the existing members, can see that the more members there are, the more useful the site becomes, and that that outweighs the slightly smaller chance of winning the iPad if you ask others to join!

But I'll tell you what my plan is: I'm going to ask my techies whether we can take a record of all member's points at the end of the year, and then develop an awards system for the people that contribute most to the community over the course of next (measured by the number of points they accumulate).

Funnily enough, we had a debate in the 'office' about whether someone would say / think that!

It might significantly reduce your chance of winning if you invite, say, 1000 more veterinary surgeons to join. But if you just tell one or two others at the practice, it isn't going to make that much odds.

Certainly not when you bear in mind that I've just sent a postcard invitation to something like 11,000 MsRCVS which should be landing on doormats on Friday.

Actually, I think the reason why there seem to be quite a few 'win an iPad' competitions is because everyone seems to want one. We're still getting entries for the iPad competition Boehringer ran two months ago on VetSurgeon (despite the fact that the competition closed nearly a week ago).

That's why I'm offering another one.
