This is a bit of an unusual post but having recently moved to Devon, and not being in daytime practice I have realised that my 2dogs, and the 2 of the in-laws are all due boosters and I suddenly have no means of providing them ( Doh

Re: Dog vaccination dilemma..Devon/Okehampton
Thanks for taking the time to give me your advice....I will give the local vets a call this afternoon and see if they would be happy to help.
I always charge at cost or staff rates - that generation or the previous one provided me with 'seeing practice etc FOC' so only feels right to give something back!

Oh and in a few years it will be me on the scrounge!!!!!

Re: Dog vaccination dilemma..Devon/Okehampton
Would you think it rude if I walked into your surgery and asked??
We have a retired German vet who lives in our practice area. We provide her with dog vaccines at list + VAT for her own dogs.

A practice where I spent time as a student had a retired vet as a client who got drugs from them at cost + VAT - pretty much whatever he wanted.

I don't think it's strange. If I was on holiday and something was wrong with my own dog I would call into a local practice and play the "vet card". I have a photographic driving licence, they can look me up in the register if they want. I don't care if they sell me drugs at cost, make me write a prescription, or charge them at their normal rate. I wouldn't pay for a consult!

If you lived in Yorkshire it would be no problem!

HAve thought about it but wasn't sure if it would be a bit rude to walk in and expect them to hand them over. Had even thought of just paying normal price but asking to inject them myself...but it means having to take them into the surgery. Would you think it rude if I walked into your surgery and asked??

Re: Dog vaccination dilemma..Devon/Okehampton

Have you tried calling into a local practice and asking them?
