You have lovely parks but you also have Barnsley and Hull. That easily cancels out the good bits.

I am originally from Rochdale, Ian from Leeds. Our daughter was born while we worked in Hull, my son when we came to Bury.

A bit of a mix!

At my wedding, the Lancs folk had red roses (button holes, bouquet etc) - the Yorkshire folk white ones! lol!

Michael - Yorkshire folk think they are superior. Which is fine by me. Because Lancashire folk know we are. Good on your girlfriend for trying to dilute out those Yorkshire genes!

Melbourne is a beautiful place, as you're finding out, Jane. I worked around Victoria for a while a few years back, mainly along the coast around the Apostles. I also managed to wangle a locum out on King Island, with the cheese and the penguins.

I don't remember such comprehensive welcoming packs, or any stringent checks for that matter; it was all very informal and trust-based. That might have somewhat informed the current system, come to think of it.

Oh, and just so you know, the heat seems to have died down here - Jeremy Whine has an awfully short attention span, like most of his audience. This morning, the Beeb were laying into human homoeopaths - a bit like shooting dead sheep, but worth it for the schadenfraude.

I'm not surprised at the OZ approach, after all it was their previous premier who requested that all those not prepared to live by Aussie Rules were to politely, "bugger off back to their own country".

A spade is a spade in Australia. Whereas in Belgravia House, it appears to be an implement of varying length and manufacture utilised mainly for cultivational purpose.
