I can hardly believe it - we're in! And it was pretty painless (or as painless as moving ever can be).

Right - now to hang a curtain in front of the bedroom window, or my new neighbours across the road will be getting a full frontal in the morning.

Well, it's still snowing here. It's all getting too bloomin' festive for comfort.

For once it's the English end of the journey that's causing the problems - the English South West is getting pasted at the moment, then it's going to move to the English midlands tomorrow which means that by the time we hit the snow that's already in Southern Scotland we've got snow and ice pretty much all the way. It's all looking less and less of a practical proposition. According to the folks they've got temperatures down to -15 . (If we're not careful this is going to turn into the four Yorkshiremen sketch!)

We still have 2 inches of frozen ice on the ground, and its minus 7............

Turned out the oil wasn't stolen after all. The people we had round to grind out the roots of two leylandii I had chopped down managed to grind out the oil line at the same time!

Yes Niall, I had tried Tincknells, they told me not to bother asking them till the New Year. Meanwhile, to my amazement, my new best friends at Ford Fuels showed up with a tanker days earlier than expected, so we're OK on that front now.

Looking out of the window this morning, there's been a hard frost and / or a light dusting of snow. But I don't think it's anything that'll stop the removals, if they get here and load up quickly.

Signing off now. Hope I'll be back online from the new house this afternoon (otherwise I guess I'll be working from an internet cafe in Frome).

Oops! 1 inch of snow this morning in Glastonbury. Although it's still dark here tt's not too cold so I have a feeling it may melt away as the sun comes up. Fingers crossed.

We're in Glastonbury, West of Frome and no snow yet - just cold winds and ominous looking clouds. I'll keep you posted. Have you tried Tincknell's fuels for oil, they supply the practice, they're generally helpful and they were able to top us up a few days ago, although their website does say they can't guarantee anything until New Year.

I've got a dehumidifier you can borrow if you like. You can use it as a heater as well but it sounds like a helicopter taking off so probably not something you'd want next to you if you're sipping sherry whilst watching telly. My parents used to have some propane heaters but I'm not sure if they still do. I could find out as they're not far away.

We're supposed to be moving into the new house tomorrow, but it all rather depends on the weather. A single snowflake at our old house will render it inaccessible for the removal lorry (elfnsafety). I gather snow is coming in from the west, due tonight. Would be very grateful if anyone living west of Somerset could tell me when / if the snow arrives with them - if it happens this afternoon, I suspect we're stuffed!

Could be in for an amusing first few days at the new house. Our oil was stolen night before last. You try buying heating oil now. Every company I have spoken with said don't bother calling till the New Year, even when I played the 'oil stolen, two little children, one with epilepsy' card. Only exception were the very helpful people at Ford Fuel Oils (if you live in SW England, this is the company to use), who let me collect drums of the stuff. Turned my car into a sort of mini oil tanker. Had to remember to apply brakes about half an hour earlier than normal!
