Eyesight - I don't know anyone aged 50, who had good/normal eyesight as a youth, who doesn't need reading glasses now. I found this so frustrating - glasses on and off, on top of my head, in the top pocket etc, that I have now become used to wearing one, yes only one, contact lens that enables me to read and operate without the encumbrance of the reading glasses or monocle!! I recommend it although it takes some weeks for the brain to accommodate!!(no more monocle in the surgical site!)
Absolutely right - been a full week with new similar contact lenses - not needed to use my reading glasses even for operating - all patients still fit and well. I can also leave the lenses in for a month. Wonderful - do not have to accept I am over 50 now!!!

Re: Don't you just love the VMD?
Hi Bob

We have just had our labels altered to include the "required" information of i) the species of the pet and ii) the vet's initials who prescribed the drug; although both bits of information are clearly marked on the animal's history if required. This has resulted in the font size being reduced to the point where I need to put my reading glasses on the read (and I'm only 45!) God help the aged client with poor eyesight. There may be potentially more mistakes in administration because the client cannot read the tiny writing on the choc-a-bloc label!

Thought I would just put my oar in!
When you get an inspection just point to a dark mark at the bottom part of the label, look at the inspector, a confused look on your face and tell them it is there just in a very very small font as it is quite irrelevant!!

Re: Don't you just love the VMD?
This has resulted in the font size being reduced to the point where I need to put my reading glasses on the read (and I'm only 45!) For example regulation, the sort of person who is naturally drawn to that type of position is likely to be the sort who should on no account be responsible for instituting it. It also applies to other bodies, royal college council for example or examiners
