I know lots of you are telling me to phone but my gut feeling is that Malcolms comment sums it up!!! At the moment the combination of my cowardice and the reality check of a brother that had a heart attack 24 hours ago means some things are possibly best left unsaid!!!

Oh by the way brother is fine and will be home tomorrow so I will enjoy the humour of the situation with the cat rather than worry about it

Its not going to be a pretty conversation, but I can't see how you could not phone them.

If they're the kind to bury their pet- cremated or otherwise- then I think they have the right to know if they've buried the wrong one.

Or perhaps they registered the cat as dead because it had been missing for a long time, and they gave up hope of it ever returning. At least now they might get closure.

Gawd, what a tricky one. I think you have to tell them don't you? Maybe the microchip company made a mistake and 'deceased' the wrong animal and these poor owners are still looking for their pet?
