The DVLA site says it may take up to 3 weeks for my new one to turn up, and there is very little I can do

Re: Remember to renew your photo licence!

Also on the subject of driving licences:

1. If staff will be towing trailers etc check their licences cover this - check DVLA website for more info. Driving licences issued after 1997 have different category allocation as standard.

2. Also insurance on business vehicles may have a lower age limit of 25yrs or possibly 23yrs which may mean a young new graduate is NOT covered.... especially Scottish educated vets as they may be as young as 22yrs when starting work.

On the plus side, we'll be drifting through the French vineyards, and I have an excuse for not being the designated driver. C'est bon chance, oui?

But, if you look at the small print then I've interpreted it to say that if the application is in, and the licence as a whole hasn't expired, then there's no offence: the renewal is simply an updating of how much hair I don't have rather than a test of my fitness to drive. We'll see how Monsieur Plod goes on that one, though.

And yes, I did get a reminder - but what with all the information the RCVS keep wanting us to supply, I can't be expected to remember everything.

Mine expired this year and I got sent a form to fill in to renew it in the post! It came as a surprise to me but I was happy of the reminder.

Re: Remember to renew your photo licence!
oh, whoops, how long are they valid for? (thinking I ought to find out where mine is)
10 years.

You are driving 'other than in accordance with your licence' if you photocard has expired.

They sent me a reminder through a few months before expiry. Costs £20

Re: Remember to renew your photo licence!

oh, whoops, how long are they valid for?
