Yep, I was thinking along the lines of CC too. The clause about being financially responsible for 'defective' work worried me, but fortunately they're just as controlled by the contract as is the locum, so are actually unlikely to try anything daft.

If you are working for only one practice/employer I am not sure self employment ot Ltd Co status would be accepted by HMRC? I feel should you should seek professional tax advice. The practice would prefer it of course because they avoid/evade extra NI costs, and sick, holiday and maternity/paternity pay costs. It also means you have no employment rights.

Also, if you form a Ltd Co. you are not self employed, you work for and are technically an employee of the company.

I have a standard cancellation policy of a month from either party. I never have, but if I did cancel within a month I would expect to have to find a replacement.

with regard to the "defective" work. I would want a definition of what that actually means and in what situations it applies.

I have only ever been asked to sign a contract by one of the corporate companies, which I did agree too. Recently, however, I was cancelled at 4 days notice by the same company - they in fact broke the terms of their own contract! silly of them (see -If we had Chads - wot! no common sense )
