Closely followed by the suits in their executive company cars (usually a BMW 3 series or Audi A4.) They certainly won't say thank you as they are too busy on their mobile phone....

The middle-aged (stressed?) mums are also the least polite on the road. Most men, younger ladies and some pensioners are much more polite and more likely to say thank you if you let them out. They must have their minds elsewhere.....

I only cycle a very short commute so I largely avoid the school-run-mums but on my long weekend rides in the lanes of Bucks, Berks and Herts their like irritates me more than the oiks who give me abuse because they perceive I'm impeding their progress, by being too scared to overtake for ages then finally do at precisely the wrong time.

PS As this may not be the most appropriate place to discuss cycling Simon, if you're a keen cyclist and don't already know about it, there's a brilliant forum www.roadcyclinguk.com, which is even more informative, controversial, witty and entertaining that this one and on which I confess I also spend far too much time!

I'm also a keen cyclist Martin and agree with you re the oiks - but have to say in Surrey at least the biggest danger is the stressed-school-run-mummy in the black SUV!

I drove through Cracoe today, bit out of my area, but a gorgeous day.

I know a rep who had a meal at the Craven Heifer and said it was decent food and good value, not too far away (if it's crap I've never eaten there!)

Research has shown that males between the age of 17 and 30 of low intelligence are more likely to be involved in road accidents. The Government has therefore introduced legislation that any young male driver with an IQ of less than 100 must display a white flag bearing a red cross from his vehicle in order to warn other road users. The number of flags it is necessary for drivers to display is in indirect proportion to their IQ.

(I know this went round the last World Cup but the old ones are always the best)!

I had nothing booked between 3 and 5 (kind receptionists avoided the time slot unless essential) so altho I am now fully booked for the evening, did manage to get home for the match. AND WE WON! YIPPPEEEE.

We're camping at the weekend though - anyone know a good pub near Cracoe, Yorkshire Dales, with a TV showing the sport?????
