I am looking in the near future to start writing a Practice Newsletter, and I just wondered if anyone had any advice, helpful tips etc.
I didn't know whether to write it freehand and use a local printers, or to use one of the "sponsored" templates

Re: Practice newsletters

We do our own, I think it makes the whole thing more personal and there is more space toput in offers/updates/cases etc. A local printer did the artwork for the header and formats and presents it nicely. It has great rapport with the clients. We like to try to get the clients to think they are part of the practice more and more and this seems to be a great way to achieve that

Are you going to post them to every client or just put a couple of dozen in the waiting room and top up as needed.

We had a browse around various practices websites and many publish their newsletters. A great source of inspiration and see what your rivals offer.

We make our own, single sided colour A4. Number of boxes with little articles on. I'm not sure it matters if it looks slightly 'home-made' so long as it's easy to read and gets the point across. Various drug companies (Intervet spring to mind) have some short newsletter articles and pictures for you to use.

If you print it yourself on a lazer printer then it looks slick and you can produce more whenever you need. If you pay and have 500 printed it may get outdated quickly.

Re: Practice newsletters

It doesn't become active until you have selected the text you wish to make into a link with your mouse. Does that solve the problem?

erm no but it's not a problem I can cut and paste an url if I want its not like its something I'll be doing that often.

If you are using internet explorer, it is usually enough to paste or type the address into the forum reply box, then add a space after the url, and it will automatically convert to a link. Still best to click the link icon and set it to open in a new window.

Local printers will get nowhere near on cost and unless you have a gift for this sort of thing, in-house productions will look very amateurish in comparison.
