Has anyone been to the Northern Vet show today? Was it any good?
I have a free ticket for tomorrow.

Re: Northern Vet Show?

Apparently the exhibitors were told there were going to be 650 people on Monday and there was only 150. A couple of exhibitors I have spoken to were disappointed and are not planning to go back next year. it would be a shame as I like the idea of the event but I suspect BSAVA was quieter at the start. Hopefully lessons learned and a better event next year

Also, the signing to the lecture rooms was non-existent and with four rooms being used on three floors, I wasted some time wandering round looking for the small signs on lecterns on outside a room that meant there was a lecture inside.

I would go again though, it was good value.

Re: Northern Vet Show?

Gillian, it would seem we spent much of the day in the same room! It really is a small world.

I thought it was OK. I'm trying to keep an open mind with the touchy feely Vetlearning stuff but find it hard! Stomached 45 minutes of small animal CPD (dental extractions).

Would have been nice if there had been a large animal stream, even if only 1 day. I thought I'd have a look at the trade stands at 4pm but they had all gone. Was very quiet on Sunday, probably due to the weather and people not valuing free tickets.

Was it worth the trip? Yes.

Would I go again and pay £150 or more? Not sure, would depend on the programme.

Re: Northern Vet Show?

I was there today as well- would have been nice to say Hi and put a face to the name!!

So what did you think? I was in the war theatre most of the day and found most of the lectures interesting - I really hope it was successful enough to repeat. Unfortunately most of the trade people didn't feel they got value for money so not sure it will

Re: Northern Vet Show?

Thanks for the feedback

There was a couple of good clinical lectures but some of the business lectures were hit and miss. I liked the session with Steve Beddall but I have to work tomorrow so can't get back to any more. One thing that annoyed me is that the timings for the different streams doesn't coincide which makes it difficult to chop and change. The rooms are quite spread out and it doesn't have a good flow. Food is not the easiest to sort out but there are a couple of cafes and a tesco express nearby. Saying that, I didn't pay for the ticket, it was the first year of the event and as it is very handy for me, I want to encourage it to come back next year.
