Every other breed I fancied has a list of inherited conditions as long as your arm. As far as I have read, Pointers can get epilepsy, atopy, cherry eye and hip dysplasia.

Interestingly enough, my neighbour is looking for a small, furry toy breed and asked for my recommendations. As much as I think a Cavvie (? spell!) would suit them down to the ground, she would never forgive me for the lifetime of MVD medication it will no doubt need!

Re: just for fun - dog breeds!

My soft spot is Border Collies.
At the moment I have a loopy BC cross - we think with corgi (hmmm - a collgi perhaps? a border corgi? ) - she looks like a short haired BC with the legs chopped off, plus a curly tail, and the big corgi neck. I did think that they were a healthy + unspoilt breed but one of mine has atopy and IBD and the other is hypothyroid with a pulmonic valve murmur and KCS so maybe not so good....or maybe that's just the vet's dog effect.

Really like deerhounds and wolfhounds but my bed's not big enough and I want more than 7yrs with a dog, love flatcoats but can't face the tumours, have a soft spot for Bullies but they are just wrong (but so many lovely characters), fancy a husky but just don't have the energy (I need a dog with an off switch)!
