Getting back to the thread, I remember being given in one of my first mixed practice jobs, two bakery trays with those polystyrene inserts that the injectables came in, filled with crusty bottles of neopen and buscopan, and a rusty calving jack complete with mummified and dessicated morsels of membranes.

I think I then went to B&Q for some storage boxes, and had to convince the boss that it really was an investment for the practice so the drugs were at least out of sight!

On another tangent, once locked myself out of my car, and having called the practice who could not find the spare key, then called the local police to see if they could help.

The answer was a curt, " really you need to leave the car and try to get another key madam", until I pointed out that in leaving the car I was also leaving unattended and in full view, several vials of a well known Schedule 2 drug, and several other pharmaceutical preparations that could be of interest to the local criminal population.

The police were there in 5 minutes.....................

Re: Car Boot Storage

[quote user="Vikki Halliday"]

Basically 2 boxes ~2 foot high 2 foot wide 4 foot deep, with a draw at the bottom of each that I have drugs in one, syringes, needles fluttervalves and sundries in the other. The draws are on full extension runners and can be removed easily if I want to take all my drugs out.

I feel your pain about the numerous trips to and from the garage so I too am looking at a better solution. This is one option I am considering,

http://www.animedic.co.uk/vetsafe.asp

I know it will be a bit costly I think but may be worth it to have something purpose built, but if it is going to cost too much might do a DIY job on it.

Also I use this product to this for all my dentistry equipement (excluding rasps) and found it very useful when doing a load of dentals in one yard as fitted gags, disinfectant, sedation and syringes, charts, gloves, probes etc and provided something to sit on when filling the charts outs.

http://www.screwfix.com/prods/59535/Hand-Tools/Tool-Storage/Tool-Boxes-Chests/Rolling-Tool-Chest

Not sure if this helps any

Alan
