Ah yes, I promised my wife a new bathroom and she followed up on an advert in the Telegraph. So that's it then - it's my wife's fault.

Yes, it is in hand Clive. We paid via credit cards and have the card companies on-board now, plus have had a master builder give an opinion that it is "unprofessional and shoddy work". We have not managed to find a single part of the new bathroom that does not have a fault, and this after multiple faults have already been "corrected". We (vets) would go out of business within a few months if we gave such a poor service as Dolphin have.

Julian - looks like money back time to me. If it has not been completed to satisfaction in 6 months, you should withhold payment or demand a refund. It is clearly not fit for the purpose for which it has been sold.

Some of you, Hannah, Alex, are not taking my original post seriously enough!

Anyway, if anybody wants a six page summary of how a certain national bathroom company are staffed by incompetent, inefficient, untrustworthy, unreliable and utterly poor workmen, then please feel free to contact me.

Considering the "guaranteed twenty-eight day fitting from initial order" we reached 181 days after order with an incomplete and fault-ridden bathroom and to then find the afore-mentioned invoice (with an unbelievable mark-up that puts our fifty per cent or so on drugs in perspective), it beggars belief that a company can treat customers this way.

What about the mark up on caffiene (a non POM drug) when dispensed as an aqueous infusion ??????????????

Ever considered what the mark up of coke and popcorn is in the cinema? At least several hundred per cent I would think. And does coke have to be carefully stored at the correct temperature, monitored by batch number, dispensed at the correct amount with consideration of the coke drinker's medical history and dosage in ml/kg, by a SQP, with advice on how to consume it? And the competition commission complains about our mark ups? Strange world we live in sometimes.

Jeepers - Being a salesman myself, i'd recommend using the price 'left behind' to argue a boat load from the quoted price. I can imagine the red faces...

Or buy from elsewhere with the knowledge of the cost price - eBay?

You could then get it installed by a plumber friend or friend of a friend who won't rip you off - even try doing it yourself if you're feeling brave! There are plenty of videos on YouTube to show you how!

Dolphin, Moben & Sharps are all the same company and usually do a 50% off deal. I guess they vastly exagerate the list price so they can look cheaper with a good discount. Personally I don't trust a compnay that will regularly do a 50% sale, they must be overpriced at the rest of the time. It would make interesting reading for clients when they complain at a 50% mark-up.
